What I’ve Learned About Bullying with Michael D. Cohen

After nearly 100 conversations about bullying, confidence, resilience, and the experiences that shape us, I’ve learned a lot. But I’ve also learned that I don’t have all the answers. For this special episode of Breaking Bullying, I sit down with my friend, actor, writer, director, and educator Michael D. Cohen for a different kind of conversation. Instead of focusing on one bullying story, Michael and I explore some of the biggest lessons and questions that have stayed with me throughout this podcast. We talk about the importance of human connection, why having even one person who truly sees you can change your life, and the ripple effect we can have on others without ever realizing it. We also discuss confidence, what it means to truly listen to someone who is struggling, why curiosity can be more powerful than judgment, and something I personally needed to hear: helping someone doesn’t always mean having the answer. Sometimes helping them find the right question is more important. Michael also shares his perspective on bullying behavior, why the person doing the bullying may be struggling too, and why understanding the complexity of people doesn’t mean excusing harmful behavior. This conversation reminded me that after all these episodes, there is still more to learn. If there is one thing I hope you take away from this episode, it’s this: be that one person for someone. Listen. Ask questions. Let them know they’re seen. You may never know the difference you make. Connect with Michael D. Cohen Website: https://michaeldcohen.com Michael D. When Adults Damage a Child's Confidence

In this episode of Breaking Bullying, Tim Flynn sits down with entrepreneur, speaker, and podcast host Tyler Uriah for a powerful conversation about a side of bullying that often goes unnoticed. Growing up with a father in prison and facing constant labels from adults, Tyler spent years believing he would never amount to anything. What he later realized was that some of the most damaging bullying in his life didn't come from other kids. It came from the adults around him. Together, Tim and Tyler discuss confidence, self-worth, overcoming adversity, finding community, and how small wins can change the direction of a person's life. Tyler also shares how hosting his former podcast, Bully This, helped him recognize the impact those experiences had on him and how they shaped the person he would become. If you've ever felt written off, underestimated, or labeled by others, this conversation is for you.
