The SENSES Project

Students, faculty, and staff at Syracuse University come together to discuss some of their favorite songs and, in the process, touch on society and culture. On Side A, the two faculty/staff select two songs each. On Side B, the students each select two songs.

    Craig Tucker's Jazz SongShare w/Prof. Shiu-Kai Chin, Joe Vanable, Day Smith, and Noah Lambert

    This podcast is a Jazz SongShare where everyone at the table picked a jazz piece that means something to them. In this podcast are five men from various ages, generations, races, and roles on Syracuse University's campus: Noah Lambert is a first year student in the College of Engineering and Computer Science who chose Dave Brubeck’s “Take 5” from 1959; Joe Vanable is a graduate student in music education who chose “Save Your Love For Me” by Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley from 1962; Daqwuan Smith is a first year SSS student in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics who chose “Christmas Time Is Here” performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio in 1965; Shiu-Kai Chin is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the College of Engineering and Computer Science who chose “Compared to What” by Les McCann and Eddie Harris from 1967; and Craig Tucker is the Director of the Office of Supportive Services (HEOP and SSS) who chose “Bustin’ Loose” by Chuck Brown from 1979.     HEOP and SSS/The SENSES Project's SongShare Episode 1 Side B: Songs Worth Talking About. For SongShare Episode 1 Side A, 2 staff created a playlist that students had to listen to and discuss. This time 2 students created a four song playlist that 2 staff had to listen to. Songs are: "Hotline Bling" by Drake, "Good 4 U" by Olivia Rodrigo, "I Care 4 U" by Aaliyah, and "Self Control" by Frank Ocean. Podcast features SSS Sophomore Hannah Gonzalez, and HEOP Senior Rashard Hall, SSS Associate Director Amy Messersmith, and OSS Educational Assistant & Music Ed Grad Student Nick Piato.
