Shiur - Q&A #15: "Acquiring Good Eye Sight -"Ayin Tov"-"The Dynamics of Seeing & Identifying Virtue"

    15. Question:   I've always been troubled regarding the concept and obligation of "Ayin Tov"- /"Having a Good Eye" and as our Heritage demands of us. And in a genuine way I find that very difficult, Because:   A. I'm a very ambitious, prestigious, and successful person, who contributes to the national community, in many  significant ways, and to a wide range of critical causes. So in addition to all that being said, how can one genuinely appreciate someone else's qualities, even if subtle, in the sense, that their strengths and talents can be very helpful, but contribute only in a very technical manner.. i.e. they certainly serve society although it's more "robotic" meaning that those people have talents which don't seem to have a profound depth, for example:  (a little extreme, in order to really bring out this point)- someone who's in the "maintenance" business.. 2. Or Even a person who is a great engineer, or an accountant, finance,  etc. etc... True, All of the above certainly have value, and are critical for the well being  (physically, finacilay, etc.) of  society. But how can I appreciate the person himself, and THEIR qualities, if that's all they do, and don't contribute in a more meaningful & significant way.. (So basically, it's a technical necessity, but does everyone have profoundly deep qualities, and one's that can be shared & impact EVERYONE and not only in the "technical field" they are in?..) #2. even for a Jew that after hours engages on torah study, and  performance of Mitzvos, which is certainly infinitely valuable, how can i appreciate something meaningful & significant within them, and is: A. UNIQUE, and is  INTRINSICALLY valuable, & to appreciate it, in a deep and profound way? #3 (especially when seeing youngsters/kids/teens etc. Particularly, in the early stages of the kid/teens development, when at that stage, you only recognize the "potential" at that point.. etc.)? In addition to what was mentioned above, How can one  genuinely RESPECT another person, due to this description? And even early on, when you only recognize "potential" at that point.. etc.?  #30 of the 48 ways to wisdom-:"Ahuv" -"Being Beloved" (Bisiyata Dishmaya we have addressed the question particularly from- 51 minutes in, until the end..) (but the general idea of this shiur are linked, and are fundamentally part of a process which has been developed). Shiur & Q&A-Questions 3 & 4:"Restoring & Building Our Relationship with Hashem & His Children". 2.0!

    3. Question: How do I really  know if I'm actually developing a connection with Hashem? maybe I'm just building up this  reality in my mind- of having  a relationship with hashem, and therefore I'm just building up these emotions and attitude towards torah and mitzvos, (and "What I believe"- i.e the belief of the  existence of G-d). Therefore my question is (of course, assuming that there is a G-d who created the world), - How do I know it's not just empty emotions building up, but rather developing a real relationship? 2 in 1!  Questions 3-4. 4. Question:  How does one develop a deep and close relationship with someone, without having to fear and worry, of the relationship  turning into a Codependent relationship, which only breeds  pain and anxiety, and 3; is there a way, one can  identify, before (or in the midst) getting into a relationship, to take precautions regarding this issue of having a Codependent relationship,  and is there a way to foresee, if the relationship may turn into a unhealthy one, and is there  a way to avoid this from happening, or is it that once there's a significant downhill in this relationship  (regarding this issue) there's simply  no point of return? or is it repairable and if so, to what extent is it repairable? and what should be the practical course of action ( in terms of rebuilding and repairing this relationship) ? (We've addressed both of these questions in 1 chabura 2 in 1- their very connected in my opinion^^) The "Aish & Waterbury Hashkafa" Series. Questions 3 & 4: "Restoring & Building Our Relationship with Hashem & His Children". 2.0!

Shiur & Q&A: #39 of The 48 Ways- "נושא בעול עם חבירו"-"Sharing the Burden"-" Sensitivity to Others".

    16. Question: How can one balance out their relationship with themselves and with a friend in need. since no matter how much time I give them, I often feel that when I tell them gently that I need to leave, they feel hurt, (and I certainly understand that they can feel this way of course). And that the entire time that I have spent with them just lost all its value, since I needed to go to study etc. How should I approach this delicate, & very important question? #2. It's certainly possible to understand and see someone else's perspective (doesn't mean it's always easy though). But is it really possible to feel (i don't mean, just to relate or reflect on the pain or difficulty their going through. Or to even feel their pain emotionally.) But rather, The question is, if it's possible to really experience their pain as if it's your OWN pain, in a real way? (even when it comes to a husband  and wife, or children)? I feel, that if it's not possible, then we're all essentially alone, Since I've always learned, that Hashem has created our world as a world of relationships, and having this deep connection with him, is expressed through people. and therefore, if FEELING someone else's pain isn't really possible, and feel it as if it is YOUR pain, than  how can Hashem ask of us to feel the "shechina's" pain? And it seems that the entire depth of the mitzvah of :"Ve'ohavta Lere'acha KAMOCHA" - ("ואהבת לרעך כמוך") - To Love your fellow  as YOURSELF,  loses so much depth and meaning?! This entire concept of the most profound level of care for someone else?! How should this concept be understood , and how should i approach it? #39 of The 48 ways to Wisdom -:"Nosei Be'ol Im Chaveiro" -"נושא בעול עם חבירו" -"Sharing the Burden" -"Sensitivity to Others".

"Our Epistemology & :Our Children's Visual & Visceral Perceptual Experiences" & [#33 of the 48 Ways.

    14. Question: Hi there! Let me get right to it. I have two very sophisticated, developed, intelligent, and  wonderful, teenage children. (son and daughter ages 17-18). I have been aware that for the past while, they have been very interested and involved in a variety of social media networks, and specifically, following a number of individual's, "Instagram stories", and various "Tik Tok" compilation "challenges" as well. (although their interest is significantly less, in regards to the "tik tok" challenges, in comparison to the "Instagram stories", they have been interested in, and following up on, etc.), if you're familiar.     (Thankfully, they are both extremely passionate, intelligent people, very charismatic and simply have natural leadership qualities. Blessed be the lord!). Although, I have been concerned with them lately, since they have been filling their mind's  with other people's lives, and not embracing their own journeys.) I'm very supportive of my children, and of course, it's so important to validate them and  their feelings.. but I'm uncertain of  what the recommend path/approach is, regarding the crucially important  "parenting" part of a parent, and course of action, that must be taken, in this case, like any other. (Aside from the relationship aspect of a parent). On the one hand, it has been a very difficult time for the world this past year.. and certainly there's much room for understanding a teenager's need to have connection to something. (they really haven't seen friends.. and people in general) in the past 7/8 months, due to some medical issues..). But on the contrary, how can one make sure, that regardless of the need to empathize, understand, accept, love, and encourage.. The validation and appreciation we must certainly give, won't come at the expense of them recalibrating and reevaluating their "pursuit" of  the above, and settling for that form of satisfaction in the short run, and obviously in addition to this "overly dosed" interest and pursuit, in the long term. (They are not abandoning their studies and obligations.. they're  even enjoying the potential educational value and awareness of the "social media" presentational strategies and dynamics etc. But of course, at the end of the day, it's fantasy. that's not what should be taking over a person's time and headspace. What would be a healthy approach and practical course of action, from both the parents and children? Shiur & Q&A - :"The Aish & Waterbury Hashkafa" Series". Question #14: "Our Epistemology - & The Relationship to Our Kids Visual vs. Visceral Perceptual Experiences".
