    Grace Lee, a Music Executive Living in Paris

    Grace Lee is a Korean-American music executive who was employed at Youtube, Columbia Records MTVin New York City YouTube, Columbia Records working with artists from Daft Punk to J. Cole to Bruce Springsteen before moving to Paris full time. She is an artist and brand connector, an influential music industry executive, and an “artist relations guru”, as dubbed by Rolling Stone. In a career spanning 20 years, Grace has been instrumental in developing, breaking and promoting artists including Adele, Dua Lipa, H.E.R., HAIM, J. Cole, John Legend, Shawn Mendes, and The 1975 and more. Grace is also a cofounder of Asian American Collective, a networking and mentoring collective for Asian Americans in the music industry. In this episode, Grace talks about the time she was on a boat with Noel Gallagher and learned the secret to being satisfied as an executive in the music industry. She shares what it’s like being Korean in Paris and how that’s changed over time. We learn about her first experience with Fete de la Musique, and of course, we talk about eating and drinking around Paris and where her favorite haunts are. As for the nuts and bolts, this shenius co-founded the hypercool record label Neon Gold with her friend Derek Davies and has starred in (at least) two bands I love, MS MR and now as LPX.     Leland: Keeping His Love of Music Alive

    Leland is an artist and songwriter based in Los Angeles. He’s written for (and with) huge artists including Troy Sivan, Selena Gomez, Charli XCX, Daya and Muna amongst many others. He also works on RuPaul’s Drag Race as a co-writer for some of the songs and guest stars on a few episodes! We got chatting in a corner of a Grammy party in 2023 where he told me about his deep love for France and Paris.
