I’m going to give this podcast 3 stars because I don’t find her voice terribly annoying and the storytelling about this cult is decent. Aside from that, the “know it all” tone that is intermittently dispersed throughout her monologues is leaving a lot to be desired. The beginning of episode 3 depicts this perfectly. Some dude feels cancer treatment is not working for his family, so call in the terse affect regarding a guy wanting a more “holistic approach to healthcare”. This is just really dumb if you’re trying to get more people to listen. I also don’t care for someone determining to know that something definitely doesn’t cause autism. To no one’s surprise, every opportunity that the host has to take a pot shot at alternative healthcare is taken and it’s frankly exhausting. People in mainstream media machines have not yet been able to identify with the quandary that people considering alternative medicine might be in…there’s so much gatekeeping going on in every direction. Hospitals only have certain protocols because insurance will only cover certain things certain ways, “health” professionals don’t practice what they preach, and your 300 lb physician demands you take medicine for cholesterol that he himself does not take. What gives? Not to mention that if you’re told to do something a specific way so many times, inevitably the human spirit just says “that’s gunna be a no for me dawg”.
