The U.S. spends $2.15 trillion a year on regulatory compliance, and after years of building compliance systems, I think I know why: every regulated industry rebuilds the same infrastructure from scratch. Finance, healthcare, and corporate communications all solve an identical problem (messy data in, rules applied, audit trail out) with completely separate tools, while 77% of compliance teams still work manually. The fix is three shared layers: a universal data pipeline, a context-aware analysis engine, and a regulatory change tracker. Nobody has built them as one platform because vendors organize by vertical, not by problem. I'm working on changing that, and I have a prototype running rules from four unrelated regulatory domains through a single engine.
