Unerased Hosted by Trish LacyEpisode 9: He Contacted My Therapist, Then Recorded Our Daughter

Send us Fan Mail Someone once tried to get ahead of my story by emailing my therapist first and warning her that I’m “very convincing.” That line still makes my stomach drop, because it captures the trap so many people live in during emotional abuse: if you cry, you’re unstable, and if you stay calm, you’re calculating. I’m Trish Lacey, and I’m taking you through the receipts I’ve kept for years: emails, recordings, and text messages that show how co-parenting conflict can turn a child’s feelings into a debate that adults try to win. I talk about therapy as a turning point, not as a neat solution, but as a place where I can finally name patterns like gaslighting, triangulation, and credibility attacks. I also share what it felt like when my private life followed me into my professional world, and then tried to follow me into the room where I was supposed to heal. The hardest part is hearing how careful a child becomes when she’s stuck between adults. We get into privacy while dressing and showering, phone monitoring, and the difference between protecting a child and controlling her voice. I also share how I try to protect my daughter’s confidence as a young Black girl learning to love her skin, her features, and her right to take up space without criticism. If you’re parenting through high-conflict custody or navigating narcissistic abuse dynamics, I hope you leave with one grounded takeaway: stop treating your child’s words like evidence and start treating them like truth worth listening to. UnErased with Trish Lacy: Episode 8-When Her Pain Became My Purpose

Send us Fan Mail Your body knows when something is wrong, and so does your child. I’m Trish Lacey, and this chapter of my story centers on the moment I stopped treating healing like a private journey and started treating it like protection. With a gentle content warning up front, I share what happened after I left my marriage: the boundaries that felt uncomfortable at first, the small pockets of joy that helped me breathe again, and the sobering realization that my daughter was not just watching me recover, she needed healing of her own. We talk about the kind of emotional abuse and coercive control that doesn’t photograph well, especially inside co-parenting and custody exchanges. I describe what it looks like when a child feels rejected, when they don’t have a real space to belong, and when fear shows up in the body through startle responses, panic, and whispered phone calls asking to be picked up. I also tell the story of one Saturday night I will never forget, when my eight-year-old was told to pack her things and leave, and how that confrontation changed me in a way I cannot undo. Along the way, I connect the dots between trauma, boundaries, and the fierce clarity that arrives when you refuse to let a child carry an adult’s emotions. We close with the truth that became my anchor: you don’t need the person who harmed you to confirm what happened before you begin again. If you’re parenting, reparenting yourself, or trying to heal from narcissistic abuse and emotional neglect, I hope this offers language for what you’ve lived and permission to choose peace. Unerased Hosted by Trish Lacy Episode 7: I Couldn't Get Out of My Car

Send us Fan Mail Your mind can talk you into enduring almost anything, but your body keeps receipts. I’m Trish Lacey, and I’m sharing the day I pulled into my own driveway and could not make myself walk into the house, the same home I worked for, decorated, and raised my daughter in. That moment didn’t come with a dramatic fight. It came with a heavy silence, the kind that trains you to monitor footsteps and tone, and it forced me to admit a hard truth: leaving gave me a way out, but it did not immediately give me my peace. I walk you through the slow damage of gaslighting and betrayal, the way repeated secrets and shifting explanations make you question your memory, your instincts, and your worth. We talk about stepmother boundaries, why loving a child does not mean accepting mistreatment, and how kids absorb tension even when they don’t know the details. Then we get real about what happens after you leave: the relief, the terror, the guilt, and the grief that shows up when the chaos finally quiets down. Freedom is opening the door. Healing is learning how to walk through it without looking back every few seconds. We also unpack the messy middle of separation, co-parenting, and divorce. A surprise FaceTime reveals a new girlfriend around my child without the conversation we agreed on, and it becomes a lesson in control versus love. From mediation to child support to hidden financial decisions, I name financial abuse for what it is and share practical steps to protect yourself: know your money, your credit, your accounts, and what’s in your name. Unerased Hosted by Trish Lacy Episode 6: The Wedge I Invited In

Send us Fan Mail Love doesn’t fall apart all at once. Sometimes it unravels through small moments that shouldn’t matter but somehow do: a dinner that gets labeled “competition,” a conversation that gets interrupted on purpose, a text that says “Don’t tell Trish,” and a home that starts to feel less like a sanctuary and more like an emotional battlefield. We walk through the real mechanics of toxic stepfamily dynamics and blended family conflict, including triangulation, loyalty conflicts, and the exhausting pressure to keep everyone comfortable while you’re quietly disappearing. I share what it felt like to watch the rules shift, to have normal boundaries treated like betrayal, and to realize my nervous system was living in hypervigilance. We also talk about why you don’t need a diagnosis to validate your experience, and how “just live in the same house and don’t talk” isn’t peace, it’s erasure. The hardest part is the kids. I open up about the moment my daughter’s sense of fairness cracked, and the moment her fear forced the truth into the open. Leaving wasn’t about winning, replacing anyone, or loving less. It was about finally choosing respect, safety, and a home where peace is real. If you’ve ever felt used, blamed, or sidelined in a blended family, this will put language to what you’ve been living. Avoiding Instruction Leads To Destruction Every Time

Send us Fan Mail The fastest way to sabotage a calling is to get addicted to being right. We’re talking about teachability, rules, and the kind of correction that stings at first but saves you later, because avoiding instruction can lead to destruction and we’ve all watched it happen in real time: opportunities lost, relationships cracked, businesses stalled, and leaders who had talent but refused accountability. We dig into Scripture (Proverbs, Romans, and more) to separate arrogance from confidence and control from godly instruction. I also share a poem called “Rules” to make one point impossible to ignore: creation runs on order, and power without order becomes damage. From there we walk through Saul’s story and the danger of partial obedience, then contrast it with David’s willingness to serve while he waits, and Jesus choosing “not my will, but yours” as the clearest picture of strength through submission. We also get practical about an unteachable spirit, the trap of yes-people, and why flattery can bury you faster than correction ever will. To keep discernment at the center, I leave you with three filters: does the instruction violate God’s Word or just your ego, does the person have fruit or only opinion, and is it trying to elevate you or simply entertain and humble you. If you’re building in leadership, ministry, marriage, or business, this is a reset for your mindset and your circle. Peace In The Storm

Send us Fan Mail The storm is not always a sign you missed God. Sometimes it is the proof you are moving. I sit with the person who followed the call, made the leap, stayed obedient and then watched the waves rise anyway, because that moment can make you question everything you thought you heard.  We go straight to Mark 4 and the disciples’ boat that starts taking on water while Jesus is still on board, then we pull that truth into real life: cancer, loss, betrayal, addiction, divorce, financial stress, anxiety, and the quiet kind of survival nobody claps for. I talk about faith that looks like getting out of bed, sending the email, feeding the kids, whispering one sentence to God, and choosing not to quit. We also name the pain of praying hard while God feels silent, and why honesty is not a lack of faith.  Then we get practical about finding peace in the storm. Peace is not control. Peace is not getting your way. Peace is fear not driving the boat. We talk boundaries, unlearning survival habits, and what it means to stop living like it is still raining long after the clouds moved on. If you have ever felt suspicious of calm, stuck in hypervigilance, or tempted to rebuild chaos because it is familiar, this conversation gives language and a path forward.  I also share why testimony matters, how to tell the truth without using your story as revenge, and how Through the Rain Volume 2 is inviting women to write about where they found peace, not just what they survived. If this hits home, subscribe, share it with someone who is tired, and leave a review so more people can find hope when the weather gets rough. Support the show

Unerased with Trish Lacy: Episode 4- Woman 2 Woman

Send us Fan Mail They told each other he was never leaving me and somehow acted like that settled everything. What they didn’t factor in was the one thing betrayal tries to steal first: my ability to choose my own life.  I’m still asking the questions anyone would ask after infidelity, but the “truth” keeps changing depending on his mood. That’s when betrayal trauma kicks in and your memories start feeling contaminated, like every photo and every quiet moment might have been a lie. I share how narcissistic abuse flips the script so fast that the focus becomes my reaction instead of his cheating, his lying, and his constant need to control the story.  Then Natalie finally picks up. I tell you what it felt like to hear her admit she knew he was married, knew we had a child, and kept going anyway. And when she repeats his line that he was “never leaving,” I name what that really is: entitlement, not love. Coming home isn’t faithfulness. Keeping a wife isn’t choosing a wife.  From there, the story shifts to escape and survival. An Atlanta promotion becomes my exit door, and I drive away with my daughter, shaky but certain that love should never require me to abandon myself. Just when peace starts to feel real, my phone rings and he announces he quit his job and he’s moving to Atlanta too. If you’ve ever tried leaving a toxic relationship, you know how chilling that can be.  Subscribe for what happens next, share this with someone who needs their voice back, and leave a review so more people can find Onion Race.
