The Lawyer Life Podcast

You don't have to look very far to find studies confirming what we all know to be true--the legal profession is suffering. Countless studies confirm that our attorneys are struggling with substance abuse, mental health challenges, anxiety, and stress at alarming rates. While these challenges cannot be attributed to any one cause, many of these studies have demonstrated the need for greater support and mentorship in the legal profession. At the same time, as attorneys, we need to develop better and healthier coping skills to overcome the inevitable challenges of practicing law.  This podcast endeavors to do just that. Get practical skills and tools to change the way you interact with your career and start living differently.

What If Your Burnout Isn't the Problem?

Send me a note! In this episode, Autumn gets real about burnout—including her own recent experience of teetering on the edge of it—and why lawyers and other high-achieving professionals can find themselves caught in a seemingly endless cycle of overwork, achievement, burnout, and reset.  She talks about why knowing you're burned out isn't always enough to make a change, how our brains can convince us that staying in an unsustainable situation is safer than changing it, and the surprising connection between burnout, perfectionism, and our sense of worth.  Autumn also shares one of her favorite tools for getting honest with yourself when you're struggling: journaling. She explains why writing things down can be a simple form of meditation, why it's especially valuable during moments of burnout and clarity, and how keeping a record of what you're actually experiencing can help when your brain inevitably starts rewriting history.  If you've ever found yourself thinking “I know this isn't sustainable, but…” or wondering who you are if you're not constantly achieving, this episode is for you.  Let's Meet! When Success Stops Feeling Like Success

Send me a note! What if burnout isn't a mindset problem? In this special episode, I'm sharing a deeper look at the evolution of my work and why I've become increasingly passionate about the intersection of neuroscience, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, identity work, and holistic wellness. For years, I believed transformation happened primarily through changing our thoughts. While mindset matters, I've come to believe that lasting change requires something more: healing the nervous system, reconnecting with ourselves, and creating safety in both the brain and body. In this episode, we explore: • How chronic stress and burnout actually impact the brain • Why high achievers often lose touch with themselves while succeeding externally • The science behind meditation, neuroplasticity, and emotional regulation • Why nervous system healing is an essential part of personal and professional growth • The role identity plays in reinvention and transformation • What's coming this month on Lady(ish) Wellness Unfiltered • An introduction to Becoming Her and the new 21-Day Future Self Meditation Challenge Whether you're navigating burnout, questioning what's next, or simply craving a life that feels more aligned than productive, this conversation is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and remember who you are beneath the pressure. The Hidden Psychology Behind How Lawyers Earn

Send me a note! We talk extensively in the legal profession about strategy, billables, origination, partnership tracks, and compensation structures.  What we rarely discuss is the internal relationship lawyers have with money.  In this episode, I explore how identity, early conditioning, and professional culture shape the way we earn, charge, negotiate, and hold financial success.  Many high-performing attorneys experience:  Hesitation around raising ratesAnxiety that increases with incomeOverworking to justify compensationDifficulty receiving without over-deliveringA quiet ceiling on what feels “safe” to earnThese patterns are rarely about intelligence or skill.   They are often rooted in identity-level beliefs formed long before law school — and reinforced by competitive, high-pressure professional environments.   I also share details about my 30-day Money, Worth & Identity series currently running on my sister podcast, Lady-ish. The first seven days are available for free and explore the psychology of money, scarcity conditioning, visibility, and financial capacity. The full series continues inside the premium podcast, along with previous immersive series on identity reset and relational dynamics.   If you’ve ever felt financially successful on paper but internally unsettled — this conversation is for you.   Because sustainable financial growth isn’t just about strategy.   It’s about expanding your capacity to hold success without constant internal pressure.
