Will You Survive: It Chapter Two

Send us Fan Mail That first scene on the bridge is a gut check, and we don’t dodge it. We talk through why It Chapter Two opens with human cruelty before the clown even shows up, and how Derry’s sickness makes Pennywise feel less like a random monster and more like the town’s worst impulses given teeth. If you’ve been looking for an It Chapter Two breakdown that goes past jump scares, we dig into what the movie is really saying about learned violence, bystanders, and the way evil can cycle back every 27 years.  Then we nerd out on what works: the adult casting (Bill Hader is a standout), the way the grown-up Losers echo the kids, and Bill Skarsgård’s unsettling physical acting as Pennywise, right down to the eye movement that makes your skin crawl. We also hit the Stephen King meta layer, from cameos to bigger-universe connections, and why the story keeps poking at authors, endings, and the baggage people carry when they “move on” without actually healing.  Finally, we bring it back to survival. Fear creates tunnel vision, panic makes you sloppy, and isolation is basically an invitation, so we pull practical lessons from the chaos: stay calm, work as a team, avoid confined spaces like sewers, and keep the big-picture view when the threat wants you locked onto one horrifying detail. We also ask the only question that matters in this franchise: what would Pennywise show you to break you? Will You Survive: It Chapter One

Send us Fan Mail A killer clown is scary. The way fear makes smart people do dumb things is worse. We sit down with It Chapter One (2017) and use it as an excuse to pull out real, practical survival lessons you can actually carry into everyday life, whether that is dealing with strangers, navigating risky places, or keeping your head when your body wants to panic. We start with our first reactions, theater memories, and why Pennywise works so well on-screen, then we zoom in on the moments that feel uncomfortably real. Stranger danger is not just an 80s slogan. Pressure to break a rule, step closer, or “just do it” is a classic boundary test, and we talk about why you should never reach into storm drains even in the normal world. From there we get into sleep and horror dread: hypnic jerks, weird nighttime “bang” sounds, and how sleep deprivation ramps up paranoia and wrecks decision-making. Then we go full survival-nerd with it: why rock quarries can be dangerously cold, how hypothermia can hit fast, and what aerated water is and why it can drown strong swimmers. We also hit the “do not enter confined spaces without an exit plan” rule, the basics of what to do when someone goes missing at a crowded event, and how to avoid making choices out of fear, guilt, anger, or the need to prove yourself. Plus, yes, we argue about a wild Mary Poppins theory and why daylight scares in this movie land so hard. Will You Survive: Club Dread

Send us Fan Mail A party island. A slasher with a machete. A cast of suspects who keep doing the exact wrong thing at the exact wrong time. We jump into Club Dread, the Broken Lizard horror comedy that leans so hard into the tropes that it circles back into being genuinely funny, even when it makes you say “come on” out loud. We talk through what works, what doesn’t, and why a movie can be “dumb on purpose” and still be a great hang. You’ll hear our favorite deaths, favorite characters, and the moments that made us laugh the most, plus the little bits of trivia that make the whole Coconut Pete world even weirder. If you’re into cult comedies, slasher parodies, and the Super Troopers brand of humor, this conversation is for you. Then we do what we always do and treat it like a survival problem. Could we survive Club Dread if we were stuck on that resort? We lay out the basic survival rules: don’t split up, stop monologuing, put distance and barriers between you and the killer, and change your strategy the second you know the threat is real. From there, things spiral into bigger survival questions, like whether you’d ever drink during an apocalypse, plus a late night turn into dreams, sleepwalking stories, and horror movie recommendations for what we should cover next. If you laughed, cringed, or argued with us in your car, subscribe, share the show with a friend, leave a rating, and tell us what movie we should survive next. Love Horror Movies? WYS Yap Sesh #3

Send us Fan Mail A listener sends a custom Will You Survive decanter as a birthday gift, and that one wholesome moment cracks the door open for pure chaos. We go from prank memories and the shaving-cream “Michelin man” setup to the most important debate of all: which juices actually slap and why cranberry sauce feels like jello pretending to be food. If you’re into comedy podcasts built on real friend chemistry, this is the kind of freewheeling hang that turns tiny opinions into full-blown bits. Then we hit peak nostalgia: Vine, compilation culture, and the weird truth that short-form never died, it just got absorbed into everything. We talk throwback TV comfort watches, what we’d love to experience again for the first time, and why live comedy can be either incredible or painfully awkward in the best way. We also get into Halloween haunts, comparing Knott’s Scary Farm with Halloween Horror Nights and what makes roaming scares feel different from maze-focused production. Things take a turn when McKamey Manor comes up, because “haunted house” stops meaning spooky fun when you need a background check, proof of insurance, and a massive waiver. To bring it back to our wheelhouse, we jump into horror games and pop culture: Resident Evil hot takes, Leon’s corny one-liners, Chris Redfield’s action-hero nonsense, Silent Hill storytelling, and the true villain of so many games, the companion AI that keeps getting you killed. If you laughed, winced, or argued with us out loud, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What topic should we spiral into next? Will You Survive: The Girl with All the Gifts

Send us Fan Mail A zombie movie where the scariest part isn’t the bite, it’s the biology. We’re breaking down The Girl With All The Gifts with Alex, Eric and TJ, and the deeper we go, the more this story feels like a survival warning wrapped in horror. The infected aren’t magic monsters. They’re a fungal infection with stages, rules, and one inevitable upgrade that changes everything. We talk through what the film gets right about transmission, why the early outbreak spreads through blood and saliva, and why the late-stage “sexual phase” is a death sentence once spores enter the air. That leads straight into the survival questions we care about: do headshots make sense here, why do runners ignore body damage, and what happens when the most dangerous infected aren’t mindless adults but intelligent kids who can learn, plan, and still hunger? Then we go after the human mistakes: a “secure” military base with flimsy perimeter defense, the limits of scent masking, and the small choices that doom people in apocalypse settings like bad supply runs and sloppy water discipline. Finally, we sit with the ending and what it means when the world isn’t being saved, it’s being handed off. If you love fungal horror, cordyceps zombie science, The Last of Us-style plausibility debates, and sharp survival analysis, you’ll get a lot out of this one. Will You Survive: Obsession part 2

Send us Fan Mail One snap. One wish. One relationship that stops being messy and turns outright predatory. We watched Obsession and couldn’t stop circling the same question: if you were handed a “one-wish willow,” would you actually use it, and would you recognize the moment it starts using you back? We break down the movie as a psychological horror story with possession vibes that feel disturbingly grounded. The scariest beats aren’t just jump scares, they’re the flashes where the “real” Nikki seems trapped inside her own body, slipping through long enough to cry, warn, and beg for help. From there we spiral into theories: can a wish undo a wish, does a reset create a Groundhog Day loop, and what happens if the money wish vanishes at death? We also dig into the stuff horror fans love to debate, hidden clues, Polaroids, the altar, and the scene decisions that scream “do not eat that sandwich.” Then we zoom out into film craft and why it works: shadowy framing that denies you a clear look at Nikki’s face, unnatural movement that feels wrong no matter how you watch it, and soundtrack dissonance where upbeat music makes the violence hit harder. And yes, we roast Bear’s survival instincts all the way through, because denial is basically the movie’s most consistent killer. If you’re into horror movie reviews, possession stories, dark comedy discomfort, and “what would you do” survival talk, hit play. Subscribe, share the episode with a friend who loves horror, and leave a review, then tell us your take: would you snap the willow or burn it? Love Horror Movies? Will You Survive: Obsession

Send us Fan Mail One sentence can ruin a life if it’s spoken to the wrong object. We sit down after watching Obsession and unpack how a seemingly simple wish, “make her love me more than anything,” twists into something way darker than a typical dating horror story. What starts as Bear’s crush on his coworker Nikki turns into a “perfect relationship” that feels less like romance and more like captivity, and we keep asking the uncomfortable question the movie won’t let you dodge: who is the obsession really about?  We break down the plot beats that hit hardest, from the park attack to the brick scene, and why the film’s scariest moments often come from stillness, shadows, and that uncanny sense that someone is wearing a human mask. Then we go full theory mode. Is “Freaky Nikki” a djinn-style wish manifestation, a cursed wish that strips away consent, or the internet’s favorite idea: Nikki is possessed by Bear’s dead cat? We weigh the clues, the symbolism, and what the wish might be “interpreting” based on what Bear loves most.  Finally, we get into the blame game. When does Bear stop being a guy in shock and start being someone choosing the outcome anyway? What does it mean to “get exactly what you wished for” if the real Nikki is trapped inside her own body? If you like horror movie analysis, cursed object logic, and messy ethical questions, you’ll have a lot to argue with here. Subscribe, share the episode with a friend who loves horror thrillers, and leave a review. Which theory fits best for you: cat possession or djinn wish curse? Love Horror Movies? Will You Survive: The Auction

Send us Fan Mail You get trapped in a farmhouse at night. The dead are outside, testing doors and windows, and you cannot safely leave yet. Now you have one tool that feels powerful and dangerous at the same time: $1,000 to spend at a survival auction, bidding blind before we tell you the exact scenario. That is the game, and it gets chaotic fast. We run three scored rounds inspired by Night of the Living Dead, using practical zombie apocalypse survival gear that sounds mundane until your life depends on it: door bars and brackets, chains and padlocks, lumber and fasteners, blackout curtains, mirrors and viewing ports, floodlights, motion alarms, and the deceptively controversial “do we really need this” items. After each auction, we reveal the situation and break down why certain picks matter when the goal is simple: make it to morning without becoming a headline. Then we pivot to the less glamorous side of preparedness: medical supplies and sanitation when someone is injured and the house is getting harder to defend. First aid kits, gauze, burn care, gloves, masks, antiseptic, trash bags, and yes, toilet paper, all compete for budget against your urge to “buy tradable stuff.” Finally, we hit the no-power night, where cooking, warmth, basic lighting, carbon monoxide safety, and fire prevention turn everyday gear into life-or-death decisions. If you like survival strategy, zombie movie scenarios, and arguing about what actually keeps you alive, subscribe, share this with a friend who would overbid on the wrong item, and leave us a review.
