The Bible has been the most influential book in history, but it has also been misunderstood, misinterpreted, and even used for the agenda of people who did not have the heart of God or were a product of their times. Regardless of where you are in your spiritual journey or what doubts you might have, I believe God will reveal Himself to you. So join me in an experiment! 1. Pray: "God, if you are real, show me who you are." Or "God, I need help to believe in you." 2. Read one chapter. 3. Listen to the podcast of that chapter. 4. Journal what you sense God is showing you.

    Acts 2 - Are You Experiencing Life-Giving Community? The promised Holy Spirit comes with fire much like the burning bush or the pillar of fire of God’s presence during the Exodus. Miraculously the disciples can communicate in the languages of the Jews who came from all across the world for the Jewish holiday of Pentecost. Peter explains the disciples are not drunk as some suspected, they are filled with the Holy Spirit. He then shares with the crowd the work of God in the history of Israel and through the Messiah, Jesus. 3000 choose to follow Jesus! Not only that but the followers of Jesus live out their faith in community. They spend time together in the Scriptures, in worship, in prayer, sharing meals, and living generously.     Acts 1 - Are You Willing to Wait on God? The doctor Luke continues his narrative to Theophilos. He focused on Jesus in The Gospel of Luke. Now he focuses on the spread of the message of Jesus through His disciples from Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria and to the ends of the earth! After 40 days of teaching them after the resurrection of the dead, Jesus ascends to the right hand of the Father where He rules over the Kingdom of God which is advancing life by life through faith, hope, and love. Matthias is chosen as the replacement for Judas.     The BLESS Challenge includes connecting with God through the Book of Acts and looking for ways to love, serve, and BLESS others.1. Read through ActsPray: “God, show me what you have for me today.”Read the chapter.Listen to the Spirit of God as you read. You may have thoughts that are from him on ways to apply what you are reading or questions to dive into more.Watch the video devotional from the Gateway Leaders.Write down how you sense God wants you to apply what you read in the comments or in your journal.2. BLESS others Ask for wisdom on how to BLESS your family, neighbors, co-workers, friends, and even the strangers God might bring into your life.BLESS is an acronym for reaching out to a specific person. Come up with 2 or 3 that you know who do not follow Jesus. Then…Begin with prayer - try to pray for them dailyListen - look for opportunities to hear how to be praying for them and even express that to them when the time is rightEngage - spend time with them. Share a meal. Invite them over.Serve - look for ways to help them as you might discover specific ways to do that in your conversations or in your time praying for them.Share your story - after hearing their story, they are far more likely to be willing to hear your story of finding faith.God may also lead you to ask your waitress how you can pray for her, buy a coffee for a stranger at Starbucks, pray for healing for a person at the store, share your faith with the telemarketer, and so on!     John 21 - Do You Love Me? Jesus appears at the Sea of Galilee while the disciples are fishing. He calls out telling them to put their nets in again. They had not caught anything all night so they were resistant to the idea. They did it anyway, and they caught 153 fish! Jesus reinstates Peter into leadership giving him the opportunity to affirm his love three times just as he had denied Jesus three times the night of Jesus’ arrest. John ends his eyewitness account with the following: “Jesus did many other things as well.     John 20 - Do You Believe (Even If You’ve Never Seen Him?) Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb early in the morning and notices that the stone has been rolled away. She runs to let the disciples know. Peter and John race to the tomb and find it empty. There is no body, and they believe. Mary sees two angels and talks with Jesus, but she doesn't recognize him until he calls her by name. She is sent out to tell the others. Jesus shows up among the disciples in a locked room and offers them peace and promises the Holy Spirit. Thomas was not there and says to the disciples he will not believe until he sees Jesus in person. When he does a week later, he bows down before Jesus. John tells us that those who do not see Jesus yet believe will be blessed. #newtestament #faith #spirituality #jesus #christianity

    John 19 -Do You Know How Much God Loves You? Jesus endures a mockery of a trial and is sentenced to death by crucifixion. The Roman soldiers beat him and mock him by putting on him a purple robe, a crown of thorns, and a sign on the cross that says: “King of the Jews.”The soldiers nail Jesus to the cross. His cross is between two thieves. Eventually, Jesus cries out “It is finished” loud enough for John and the others there to hear.Jesus had accomplished his mission.     John 18 - What is Truth?After Jesus spends time praying with the disciples, it is in the Garden of Gethsemane where Judas brings the authorities to arrest Jesus. Peter attacks one of the guards and cuts off his ear (perhaps while attempting to cut off his head). Jesus heals the man. Later Peter denies he even knows Jesus.Jesus acknowledges his Kingdom is from another place and all with him follow the Spirit of Truth.
