Run-ins with Team Aqua or Magma, a trick house, and our rivals pepper the journey north to Mauville City where their 3rd gym awaits. Then, after the episode, the barrier to Lt. Surge goes down. Who will get to battle him first?     This week we battle the Dewford Gym in the Manga and AGAIN in the Anime! First, in the Manga, the wrong person runs into Steven and Ruby's Pokemon evolve while Sapphire prepares for her gym battle with Brawly. Then, in the Anime, the final starter Pokemon of Hoenn is met...times a hundred. Corphish causes problems, Birch shows back up, and Jessie is in denial. Through more evolutions and a convergence of the three teams (Aqua, Magma, and Rocket) eventually leads the story back to Brawly and a secret arena where Ash tries again to earn that second badge. First, in the Manga, we finally catch back up with Ruby with his rescuer, Mr. Briney and we get another hint at Ruby's capabilities as a Pokemon Trainer. Then, in the Anime, after a run in with Team Aqua, the gang hitch a ride from Mr. Briney toward Dewford where they deal with a shark attack. Then Ash mirrors my own efforts at Brawly's gym and loses! What does he do next? How much of the Corphish line to we get to see? And who is hanging out in Granite Cave? Then, after the episode, we catch up with Murasaki and Beck as entering Saffron seems to be difficult and Murasaki reunites with some old friends. Team Aqua/Magma show up again, dead ends are found, and Mr. Briney gives them a ride to Dewford island where the next gym awaits them. Can they defeat Brawly? Will they find Steven? Why isn't there a Pokemart!? And what trends are popular in Hoenn? Then, after the episode, Violet makes some new friends, says goodbye to an old one, and gets ready to get back on track to defeat the Vermillion City Gym!     One last leg of the Manga and Anime to get caught up to where Ruby and Shea Locke are in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. In the manga we focus back on Sapphire as she runs into Team Aqua, rescues the Devon Corporation President, and challenges the Rustboro Gym Leader: Roxanne. Then, in the Anime, we take a detour back to Johto? where Meowth is on vacation in Big Town. He reunites with the Pichu Bros, tries out some jobs, cons some Pokemon, and tries to romance a Skitty. Then we find Ash and the gang reach Rustboro where they tour the school and Ash also faces the gym leader, Roxanne! Will Ash and/or Sapphire win? Then, after the episode, Violet is interrogated by an Officer about her potential Pokemon theft.
