The Wild Goddess

Kayleigh Priest

There is a gap in the hawthorn hedge, just wide enough for someone who knows how to look properly! On the other side is Mossvale, an enchanted world where fairy folk move through ancient woodland at dusk and the wheel of the year is marked with fire, blossom and long tables pulled into the square. The Wild Goddess Podcast is a folklore and re-enchantment podcast, part storytelling, part wisdom teachings, part quiet ritual. Each episode brings you original fairylore, seasonal folklore, my own written stories, nature poetry, guided meditations, and honest teachings on what it actually means to re-enchant your life in the modern world. This is a podcast for anyone who has ever felt the pull of an old forest. Who leaves offerings for things they can't see. Who marks the  turning of the year. Who has always suspected the world is far more enchanted than it lets on. Come find the gap in the hedge. Welcome to Mossvale.

Ep 89 - A Place Worth Landing | A Mossvale Story About Believing in Yourself

This episode of The Wild Goddess, I'm sharing a story from the world of Mossvale, woven through with old bird folklore, and carrying a piece of wisdom that feels particularly tender this week. A Place Worth Landing is the tale of Mr. Hawthorn Birdsfoot — a fairy with a dream that nobody else could quite see yet. And for a long time, the world told him that wasn't enough. This story moves through the old folklore of three birds the wren, who flew highest not by being the strongest but by being patient and clever; the robin, who kept the hearth warm through the coldest winters; and the woodpecker, who worked with the grain of things rather than against them. The things worth building take time. And they ask you to keep going even when no one else can see where you're headed yet. This episode feels especially meaningful to me this week, because Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale, my debut collection of stories from the world of Mossvale, is out now. This book is my own Wonky Perch. My own sign that went up slightly crooked and stayed that way, because nothing about the journey was straight. If you are in the middle of building something that the world hasn't caught up with yet, this one is for you. Follow the smell of butter and wildflowers. 🌿  🌿 Buy my debut book Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale here on amazon   ✨ If this resonates with you, Small Enchantments is where it lives in full. Ep 88 - She's Here: My Debut Book is Live and I Have All The Feelings

This is a moment I have dreamed about for a very long time. Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale, my debut short story collection, is officially live on Amazon and I am sitting here with my physical copy in my hands and all the feelings in my heart. In this short but very heartfelt episode I'm sharing exactly how it has all felt, the emotion of holding your own book for the first time, the pride of pushing through the self doubt and the fear and the moments of wanting to give up, and what it means to finally believe in yourself enough to put something so personal out into the world. This book has been a journey of re-enchantment, of grief, of creativity and of trusting the process even when the path wasn't always clear. It started with a walk alongside a hedgerow in a place called Badger Dingle and grew into a world called Mossvale that I couldn't stop returning to. If you have a dream you've been putting off, something that lives quietly in the part of you that hasn't quite been given permission yet, I hope this episode reaches you today. Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale is available now on Amazon in paperback and Kindle. Ep 87 - Speak Your Wishes into the Water: A Midsummer Guided Meditation

This one is for you to sink into. A midsummer evening in the Storywood. The blackbird singing from the rowan tree. The daisies closing for the night. Dandelion seeds lifting into the golden air. And a path leading you, slowly and unhurried, through the ancient woodland to the Weeping Well. There you'll find the well maiden waiting. She'll offer you water from the well. She'll ask what this year has asked of you. And when you're ready, she'll invite you to speak your wishes, your hopes, your dreams, the things you're brave enough to actually want, into the dark of the water. Where they will be held. This meditation is for the halfway point of the year. For reflection on what's been carried and what's ready to be set down. For the courage to name what you're reaching for in the second half of the year ahead. It's also simply a beautiful place to rest for a while on a summer evening. Find somewhere comfortable. Let your eyes close. And follow the path into the Storywood. The well maiden is waiting. 🌿  🌿 Buy my debut book Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale here on amazon   ✨ If this resonates with you, Small Enchantments is where it lives in full. EP 86 - A Soul Episode. Grief, Growth, Books & Small Enchantments 🌿

This one comes from the heart. After a little time away, I'm back. And I wanted to come back with something real. In this episode I'm sharing everything. The personal stuff first, caring for my Nan, what that time of stillness and grief taught me, and how stepping away from the noise of everyday life has a way of showing you exactly what matters. From that stillness came clarity. About my identity as a writer. About the book I'm writing, set entirely in the world of Mossvale. About my fierce, wholehearted belief that re-enchanting the world is my soul work. And about the evolution of the Mossvale membership into something that feels more true to all of that than anything I've built before. This episode also marks the launch of Small Enchantments, a membership rooted in folklore, wonder & the art of re-enchanting your everyday life. I'm sharing exactly why it exists, what happened when I ran it for free earlier this year, and why one month was never going to be enough. If you've ever felt that strange flatness that comes from too much noise and not enough wonder, this episode is for you.  🌿 Buy my debut book Through the Hedge: Tales from Mossvale here on amazon   ✨ If this resonates with you, Small Enchantments is where it lives in full. Ep 82 - Wonder, Awe and the Antidote to a Flat, Exhausted Life

Why does an ordinary day feel so flat, even when nothing's actually wrong? This episode goes deeper on what I'm calling the disenchantment void, the hollow, going-through-the-motions feeling that creeps in when wonder, awe and a bit of everyday magic disappear from daily life. I open with a poem (an ode to the enchanted life), then walk you through one ordinary day twice, once lived flat and disenchanted, once lived with a bit of wonder woven back in. Same tasks, same tiredness, same to-do list. You'll hear exactly what changes (hint, it's not time, money or energy) and why that tiny shift in attention is backed by real research on awe, burnout and nature connection. If you've ever felt like you're getting through your days rather than actually living them, this one's for you. Come find the gap in the hedge.
