    Coyote vs. Acme (And How It Almost Didn't End Up in Theaters!)

    Do you like wacky cartoon shenanigans? Clever slap stick humor? A story with a solid message and filled with heart about an underdog, teamwork, and hope? Then I think you might enjoy the unexpected yet also not surprisingly successful box office hit, Coyote Vs Acme in theaters right now! Zoe calls this the "perfect end of summer family flick!" Appropriate for everyone in the family, rated PG. The crazy thing about this movie is how we almost never would have seen it thanks to the Warner Brothers corporation wanting to throw it in the trash for a tax write-off, which is super ironic considering the movie's anti-corporation themes and the fact it was saved by the underdogs: collective outrage from the filmmakers, crew, and fans who wanted this story displayed on the big screen. The story behind the story mirrored the story and that makes Zoe think this movie is bigger than itself -- a powerful moment in time where we can realize the power and voice we have at the box office.     The Sheep Detectives (Reel 1)

    What are two things you wouldn’t expect to go together except maybe in a mad libs read? That’s right: sheep and detectives. Yet that's the kind of silly premise that Zoe loves which is why she was super excited to watch The Sheep Detectives on Amazon Prime. Zoe wishes she had seen this one in theaters instead of the other film she chose at the time, The Devil Wears Prada 2 (which ended up being a disappointment for her). Overall, Zoe gives this film a recommendation so you can stop scrolling for hours trying to find something to watch! Zoe thinks this is a wholesome (funny adjective to use for a murder mystery but its true), funny, family-friendly who-dun-it. It is not a perfect film, Zoe thought it could have been funnier, and the pacing is slow at times, but it's worth a watch -- especially if you don't know what to watch! Have you seen the film?     Spiderman: Brand New Day (Reel 1)

    In some ways, it's hard giving this a spoiler free review because most people have already made up their minds on whether or not to go see the latest big blockbuster like Spiderman: Brand New Day. If you are a fan of the Tom Holland Spiderman movies, Marvel movies, etc., you'll probably enjoy this one! Zoe did hear some people say they were "bored" during this movie, and to that Zoe frankly questions their doomscrolling attention spans... Yes, the film is a bit sombre and subtle, but that's because it is tackling more mature themes: grief, pain, and loneliness. Zoe argues the film tackles these themes very well and in an interesting way as a superhero movie! She strongly urges parents to not bring their smaller children. Yes, it's spiderman but it's still pg-13, probably not appropriate for the littles. Have you seen the film? What do you think? Did you enjoy it?     Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender (Reel 1)

    It is tragic we do not get to experience Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender in theaters, but on the bright side, this movie exists. Zoe highly recommends this film to those who love the original animated series Avatar the Last Airbender from Nickelodeon, and discusses in a spoiler-free way why exactly she loved this movie, from the animation, the characters, voice-acting, to the storytelling. The film is available both as a digital purchase on Amazon Prime or to stream on Paramount+, with an option to do a 7-day free trial, but Zoe recommends setting a calendar alert to cancel the subscription before it automatically charges after those 7 days... they are banking on you forgetting, and since we can't see this one in theaters, Zoe feels we especially need to send the message that this studio made a massive financial mistake by not believing in this film.     Backrooms (Reel 1)

    Imagine describing a dog to someone who’s never seen a dog and then asking that person to draw a picture of a dog… They might get some stuff right, but some stuff wrong… Thats kinda what its like trying to describe the new movie Backrooms, which is a feature length film based on a YouTube found-footage series based on an internet creepy pasta, about a subliminal space that just isn’t quite right, and in fact something very creepy is going on. Zoe, a fan of this very niche internet content was very happy with this film and especially impressed it was directed by the same YouTuber who made those videos, Kane Parsons! If you like Backrooms content, she thinks you’ll enjoy seeing it on the big screen. She said it was worth the theatrical experience. It is rated R for language, blood, and some violence, but the film is primarily suspenseful and psychological.  Have you seen the film? What do you think? Did you enjoy it?     The Devil Wears Prada 2 (Reel 1)

    Does the Devil Wears Prada 2 make the cut, does it walk the runway, or is it missing the trip to Paris?  In this review (which accidentally does contain some LIGHT spoilers the further into the episode you listen, since Zoe goes on some tangents!) Zoe encourages people to watch the original The Devil Wears Prada and if you are curious about this sequel, it is a good idea to catch it on streaming or rent at home - not worth the theatrical experience.     Iron Lung (Reel 1)

    A YouTuber known for his video-game play-throughs, "Markiplier", has made an independent, feature-length film--it is an adaptation of an indie horror game of the same name: Iron Lung. Iron Lung achieved a "smash hit" opening, grossing over $21 million globally against a reported $3 million budget. His success proves to the world that we don't need Hollywood. Zoe found it surreal and inspiring to see his hard-work, blood, sweat and tears finally end up on the big screen, but she didn't necessarily love the movie's story. Zoe doesn't dive into spoilers, but it boils down to not understanding the worldbuilding and lore the film sets up, but she suspects fans of this content will understand it better. The film is literally about a submarine in an ocean of blood, so it is not for the whole family; there is also quite a bit of language. But Markiplier conquering the Hollywood system to get his movie across America is a massive accomplishment. Have you seen the film? What do you think? Did you enjoy it?     Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (Reel 1)

    "Wake Up Dead Man" is a part of the Knives Out Mystery series on Netflix and released on November 26, 2025. The response online caused a lot of curiosity in Zoe, especially since she loves a good murder mystery and thrillers. She finally gave it a watch and has a recommendation with a few caveats, but is overall very surprised by the movie's themes and gospel-sharing priest protagonist. Have you seen the film?
