IPods

Interculturality Podcasts (IPods) is a project that I started in August 2023. It aims to provide alternative and, arguably, more accessible means of knowledge-sharing compared to books and journal articles. IPods aspires to organise interviews with researchers and academics in the area of intercultural studies. The interviews focus on current issues, debates, and challenges in this area in addition to topics related to our guests' expertise and research backgrounds. I aim to organise, edit and release episodes whenever possible, depending on my workload and availability.

    Professor James Simpson is our guest for episode 3 of Interculturality Podcasts. James is a professor in the Division of Humanities at the Hong Kong university of Science and Technology, where he currently directs the Masters programme in International Language Education. His research interests include Language and migration, language education, multilingualism, language policy, and creative inquiry in applied linguistics. James's recent works are informed by his interest in belonging and social justice. He currently convenes the Belonging Research Network, a link to this is included in the episode description.     Ep.2 Professor Adrian Holliday: Culture, Essentialism, and Higher Education.

    Professor Adrian Holliday is our guest for episode 2 of Interculturality Podcasts. Adrian is professor of Applied Linguistics & Intercultural Education at Christ Church Canterbury University. As described on his personal website, "his career began in English language education in Iran the early 1970s, and has travelled through engagements with a global cultural politics to arrive at current interest in the ideological underpinnings of intercultural communication. This trajectory has also taken in a fascination with the everyday complexities of social life and how to investigate them through sociology and qualitative research".     Ep.1 Dr Haynes Collins: Interculturality, Higher Education, and Swimming

    Dr Haynes Collins is our guest for episode 1 of Interculturality Podcasts. Haynes is an associate professor of intercultural studies in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies, University of Leeds. His teaching responsibilities fall broadly within the areas of intercultural studies, sociolinguistics, and language teaching. He's interested in the ways "institutional and media discourses mobilise the concept of culture and interculturality to serve ideological agendas". He writes about and conducts ethnographic research within the area of interculturality with a recent project called "An Anthropology of Swimming".
