Why Do We Keep Looking Back? Trusting God in the Wilderness

This week on Girl Read Your Bible, we walk through Exodus 14–17:7 and honestly… the Israelites are frustrating. The Red Sea parts. God provides miraculous deliverance. Bitter water becomes drinkable. Manna falls from heaven. And somehow… they still complain and want to go back to Egypt. At first it seems unbelievable. Until we realize how often we do the exact same thing. How quickly do we forget answered prayers when life gets hard? How often do we look backward when God is trying to lead us forward? In this episode, we talk about: How God teaches us trust in the wildernessWhat the Israelites reveal about our own heartsThe patience and faithfulness of God even in our weaknessIf you’ve ever struggled to trust God in uncertain seasons, this episode will encourage you deeply. Key Scriptures - write it down “Then Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.’” — Exodus 14:13 AND “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 3 Takeaways We often forget what God has already done when life gets uncomfortable. Fear can make the past look better than it really was.God uses wilderness seasons to teach dependence, not destroy us. Daily provision grows daily trust.God remains faithful even while we’re learning. His patience with Israel reminds us of His patience with us.Daily Bread Faith Prayer: “Lord, help me trust You even when I cannot see the full plan. Remind me of every way You’ve already provided, protected, and carried me through. Teach me to stop looking backward and help me move forward in faith. Give me peace for today and trust for tomorrow. Amen.” Affirmation: “God is faithful in my wilderness season. I will trust Him one day at a time.”

The Plague Everyone Questions and the MERCY most people miss | Exodus 11-14 | Moses series pt4

In this episode of Girl Read Your Bible, Nicole continues the Moses series by unpacking one of the most difficult — and misunderstood — moments in Scripture: the 10th plague and the first Passover. Many people read this story and only see judgment and imagine a harsh God. But when we step back and look at the full picture, we also see God’s mercy, patience, and salvation plan. For generations, Pharaoh oppressed the Israelites. Moses’ story itself begins with the murder of innocent Hebrew babies. Then came warning after warning through 9 plagues that demonstrated God’s power over Egypt’s false gods. Yet even before the final plague, God still provided a way to be spared. Through the blood of the lamb placed on the doorposts, God gave an invitation to trust Him, obey Him, and be covered. This episode explores how Passover foreshadows Jesus, why the blood mattered, and how this story still speaks directly to us today. In This Episode: Why the 10 plagues were directed at Egyptian godsThe connection between Passover and JesusWhy the final plague wasn’t random judgmentThe symbolism of the blood on the doorpostsHow God offered mercy before destructionWhy obedience and faith matteredThe “threshold covenant” and spiritual coveringHow fear causes us to forget God’s faithfulnessWhy God sometimes leads us the long wayKey Scriptures: Exodus 12Exodus 13–14Key Reminder: Passover wasn’t only about judgment — it was about God making a way out. After warning after warning, He still offered protection, mercy, and salvation to anyone willing to trust Him enough to follow His instructions. Weekly Assignment: Write down 5 ways God has intervened in your life. Keep the list nearby during difficult seasons so you can remember His faithfulness when fear and doubt try to take over. 3. When Obedience Makes Things Harder | Moses & The Plagues (Exodus 5–12)

When Obedience Makes Things Harder | Moses & The Plagues (Exodus 5–12)

This week on Girl, Ready Your Bible, we continue our journey through the life of Moses in Book of Exodus 5–12—and let me tell you… things did NOT go how anyone expected. Moses obeyed God. He went to Pharaoh just like he was told. But instead of things getting better… they got worse. Pharaoh made the Israelites’ lives harder. The people complained. Moses questioned God. Sound familiar? In this episode, we talk about what it feels like when obedience doesn’t lead to immediate breakthrough—and how God is still working even when everything looks like it’s falling apart. We walk through the 10 plagues, Pharaoh’s constantly changing heart, and how God was never reacting—He was moving with intention the entire time. Even when it looked messy. Even when it felt delayed. Even when no one understood what He was doing. ✨ And while we touch on the 10th plague, we’ll be diving deeper into that powerful moment next episode. If you’ve ever wondered, “God, why is this getting harder instead of easier?”—this episode is for you. ✨ 3 Key Takeaways 1. Obedience doesn’t always lead to immediate ease. Sometimes things get harder before they get better—but that doesn’t mean you missed God. 2. God is working with a bigger purpose than you can see. Every plague wasn’t random—it was intentional, revealing His power and fulfilling His promise. 3. Delays and resistance don’t cancel God’s promise. Pharaoh’s back-and-forth didn’t stop God’s plan—and neither will what you’re facing.

The Humanity of Jesus: The Power to Stay

The Humanity of Jesus: The Power to Stay Jesus understands you more than you think. In this episode, we explore the humanity of Jesus—not just that He suffered, but that He felt. He experienced joy, grief, betrayal, and even the heartbreak of a prayer that was answered “no.” But the most powerful moment? The cross. Jesus had the authority to leave. He could have stopped the suffering. He could have called down angels. He could have chosen comfort. But He didn’t. He stayed. Not because He was powerless—but because He was focused. Focused on you. Focused on redemption. Focused on the bigger picture. And that same Spirit that gave Him the strength to stay… is living in you. 📖 Scriptures Referenced (NLT) John 11:35Matthew 26:38Luke 22:48Luke 22:41-42Matthew 26:53Galatians 5:22-23Hebrews 12:2John 14:16-17Romans 8:11 💡 Key Takeaways Jesus experienced the full range of human emotionHe understands your pain, grief, and disappointmentEven Jesus prayed a prayer that was answered “no”The cross was not just sacrifice—it was self-controlJesus had the power to leave, but chose to stayYou are not powerless—the Spirit of God lives in you 💬 Reflection Question Where is God calling you to stay… when everything in you wants to leave? 🌿 3 POWERFUL AFFIRMATIONS “I am not alone in my struggle—Jesus understands me, and His Spirit strengthens me.” “I have self-control through the Holy Spirit, even when it’s hard to stay.” “I trust God’s bigger picture, even when I don’t understand my current situation.” 🙏 PRAYER Father God, Thank You for sending Jesus—not just to save me, but to show me what it looks like to trust You fully. Thank You that He understands my emotions, my struggles, and even the prayers I’ve prayed that haven’t been answered the way I hoped. Lord, help me to remember that I am not doing this on my own. Your Spirit lives in me. Strengthen me in the places where I feel weak. Give me the self-control to stay when it would be easier to walk away. Help me trust Your plan, even when it doesn’t make sense. Help me fix my eyes on the bigger picture—just like Jesus did. And remind me today… that staying is not weakness—it’s obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 522gals.com
