    Love Like This

    Ephesians 5:25-27, presents a simple but yet difficult task. “ Husbands, live your wives, just as Christ also lived the church and gave himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spit or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” I have read these verses over and over again and each and every time I ask the same question; is the possible? Is it possible to love like this? In the latest episode, Alexis and I have an in-depth conversation on the topic “Love Like This”. This episode issues a challenge to husbands; to love their wives like Christ loved the church. What does this look like? How can I love her when she makes it hard to love her? How do we overcome the backages that she brings from here past? We look at what it means to love unconditionally. As a husband it is our responsibility to love her through all the pain, hurt, trauma, bad relationships and more. We have been assigned by Christ to love our wife so much she is being transformed each and every day. Who she is now, looks nothing like who she was before. Just a Christ is transforming us each and every day into a new person. We are not just asked to love that way, we have been commanded to.

    Which Voice Are You Listening To

    Each and every minute of our day we have to make a decision of which voice we are going to listen to. Whether it be the voice of God or the voice of the enemy. If you are old enough to remember, the cartoon that had the devil on one side and the angel on the other side attempting to influence the decision of the character. While this may have been amusing to us, this is the battle we face daily. In the latest episode from Art Of Marriage, Alexis and I have an in-depth conversation on the topic of “Which Voice Are You Listening To”. For so long, we have allowed our flesh to keep us from believing what God has said to us and about us. We now have to make a decision whether we are going to believe truth or lies. You can continue to believe the lies of the enemy and your flesh and repeat the same cycles, or you can choose to believe the “Report of the Lord”.

    The People's Part

    In the latest episode‪‬, Alexis and I have a very in-depth and passionate discussion about the part the people have in changing our society. We examine who are the people that God is referring to in 2 Chronicles 7:14, when he says, "If my people which are called by my name". As we came to an agreement that the people that he is referring to were his people. Those who profess Christ as their savior, the true church. God is waiting on us to change the world not the other way around. God finished his worked and rested on the 7th day. Jesus finished his work, when he said, "it is finished", and now he is sitting. Which means the rest of the work is left for us to complete. To see the change, we desire to see in our world, has been left up to us to finish. This is "The People's Part"

No longer can we compromise with what the culture says, we must be different. We are the only example of Jesus that some people will ever meet and if we act like, look like, and talk like the world how can we expect to change the world.

In the latest episode from Art of Marriage Podcast, Alexis and I take a closer look at this question and discuss how we as individuals allow what we see, feel, and hear to sometimes affect what we believe and what we know. God clearly states, "that we are fearfully and wonderfully made". We were created with intentionality and purpose, but whose report are you going to believe. As you will hear, so many times we allow unseen factors to change our perspective. They begin to cloud our judgement, which then leads to doubt and unbelief. As the father in Mark 9:24, cried out "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" While the facts may be true, remember that they are temporary. "Faith, is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"

    Watch Your Mouth: Your Words, Your Destiny

    In the most recent episode of Art of Marriage Podcast, Alexis and I discuss the importance of watching your words. The Bible teaches us that the power of life and death lies in the tongue. Our words can move us forward into who and what we have been called and destined to be or they can hold us hostage and keep us bound. We discuss in detail how we had to learn not to just control our tongue, but as importantly how to communicate with each other. As you will hear, our marriage was dying slowly, and the cause of death was how we were communicating with each other. We were tearing each other down instead of building each other up. The negative aspects of each other had become our focus so much that we didn’t even want to be in the same room with each other. Now, in year 15, we can say that we have learned how much power our words possess and that life and death is truly in the power of the tongue.
