Why Holding On Tighter Was Making Me More Triggered as a Mom

There was a time when I believed something that so many moms are silently holding onto: “I need more time away from my kids in order to be calm.” And I clung to that belief hard. In this episode, I’m sharing a moment from early motherhood—when my daughter asked me to stay for chapel… and I felt myself getting angry. Not because of her. But because I believed I was losing something I needed to survive motherhood. That moment showed me something deeper: It wasn’t about the time. It was about the way my nervous system felt inside motherhood itself. Because when your body is stuck in survival mode… everything starts to feel like too much. Even the moments you wish you could enjoy. In this episode, we talk about: • Why “me time” isn’t actually solving the root problem • The hidden belief that keeps moms stuck in the trigger → guilt → overwhelm cycle • What surrender actually looks like (without losing yourself) • Why holding on tighter to control makes motherhood feel heavier • The shift that helped me feel calmer inside my life—not just away from it The truth most moms aren’t told: You don’t need to escape motherhood to feel better. You need to feel safe inside it. 🎧 If you’re tired of: Feeling like you’re constantly “on” Getting triggered over things you wish didn’t bother you Needing breaks just to survive the day Snapping… then spiraling into guilt after This episode will hit. 🔗 NEXT STEPS 💛 Start here (free): If you want a simple way to stop the spiral in the moment— grab my free 3-step reset: Untriggered: Mothering Without Losing Your Sh*t → This shows you how to catch yourself before it turns into yelling, shutdown, or guilt (even when your kid is melting down and your body feels like it’s about to explode) Grab it here: https://www.consciousmotherhoodcreations.com/untriggered-pdf ⚡ Want something deeper? If you’ve ever sat in the car after drop-off… trying not to cry… wondering if you’re doing something wrong.. this episode is for you. Because I’ve been there. For two years of preschool, drop-offs were HARD. Tears. Clinging. Questioning if school was even the right choice. And I tried everything: The books The routines The “Kissing Hand” Little comfort objects All the advice you’re told to follow …and nothing actually worked. Until something shifted. And here’s what I didn’t realize at the time: It wasn’t about finding the perfect strategy for my daughter. It was about what was happening inside of me. In this episode, we talk about: Why most separation anxiety advice doesn’t actually solve the problem The subtle ways your child feels your internal state (even when you’re “doing everything right”) The shift I made that changed our drop-offs completely Why forcing confidence, routines, or quick goodbyes can backfire How to support your child’s emotions without making drop-off harder The truth most moms aren’t told: Your child’s separation anxiety isn’t something you need to fix. It’s something they need help feeling safe through. And that starts with you. 🎧 If you’re currently dealing with: Clingy, tearful drop-offs Feeling guilty leaving your child Trying all the “tips” but nothing is sticking Wondering if school is the right choice You’re not alone—and you’re not doing it wrong. 🔗 NEXT STEPS 💛 Start here (free): If drop-offs trigger you just as much as your child… grab my free guide: Untriggered: Mothering Without Losing Your Sh*t → This will help you stay grounded in those high-emotion moments so you’re not spiraling in the car after drop-off Grab it here: https://www.consciousmotherhoodcreations.com/untriggered-pdf 🎒 Want tear-free drop-offs? How to Repair With Your Child After You Yell (Without Shame or Overcompensating)

If you’ve ever snapped at your child… raised your voice… or walked away thinking: “Why did I react like that… again?” This episode is for you. Because here’s what most moms get wrong: They think the goal is to never mess up. To stay calm all the time. To never yell. To always respond perfectly. But that’s not real. What actually shapes your relationship with your child… is what happens after the hard moment. In this episode, we’re diving into something that most parenting advice barely touches: repair. Because underneath everything you want for your child— their happiness, confidence, resilience— what you really want… is a deep, connected relationship with them. And repair is what builds that. In this episode, we talk about: • Why yelling doesn’t ruin your child (even though it feels like it does) • The biggest mistake moms make after they react • What repair actually looks like (and what it’s not) • How to reconnect without over-apologizing, over-explaining, or spiraling in guilt • Why repair builds more trust than “perfect parenting” ever could The truth most moms aren’t told: It’s not the moment you lose it that defines your motherhood. It’s how you come back. 🎧 If you’re stuck in: Trigger → react → guilt → repeat Overthinking everything you said after a hard moment Wondering if you’re messing your child up You’re not alone—and you’re not behind. 🔗 NEXT STEPS 💛 Start here (free): If you want to catch yourself before it turns into yelling… grab my free guide: Untriggered: Mothering Without Losing Your Sh*t → This gives you a simple 3-step reset to stop the spiral in real time so repair becomes something you do less often—and more intentionally https://www.consciousmotherhoodcreations.com/untriggered-pdf ⚡ Want to feel more in control in the moment? Your Child Isn’t the Problem: The Real Root of Power Struggles

If you feel like you’re constantly going back and forth with your child… “Just put your shoes on.” “No.” “I said put your shoes on.” “No!!” …and suddenly you’re both escalating— this episode is for you. Because here’s what most moms are told about power struggles: Your child is being difficult. They’re testing you. They’re trying to control the situation. So you try to: Be more firm Hold the boundary harder Stay in control …and somehow it just gets worse. Here’s the truth: Power struggles aren’t actually about your child. And they’re not about control. They’re about what’s happening inside of you. In this episode, we’re shifting the lens completely because when you see your child as “difficult” or “defiant”… you show up one way. But when you understand what’s really going on underneath… everything changes. In this episode, we talk about: • The real root of power struggles (and why it’s not your child) • How the belief “my child is doing this on purpose” fuels escalation • What’s actually happening in your body during those moments • Why doubling down creates more resistance (not cooperation) • The perspective shift that dissolves power struggles before they explode The truth most moms aren’t told: Your child isn’t trying to control you. They’re responding to the energy and state they feel from you. And when your body is in “survival mode”… everything becomes a fight. 🎧 If you’re stuck in: Constant back-and-forth with your child Escalating situations over small things Feeling like you have to win or be listened to Ending the day in guilt after power struggles You’re not doing it wrong.
