Welcome to My Home is Special, a podcast that asks: what if home isn’t a place, but where you are living out your purpose: what you were meant to be doing? This podcast explores what’s special about homes like these, so we can appreciate the joy and light they bring to the world around us. Many of these worlds are ones most of us know little about, or tend to overlook. My goal is to give you visibility into them. I’m Keith Bevans (AKA KBev), and each month I sit down with someone from a different walk of life to hear about their home. New episodes release the first Monday of every month. With dozens of episodes in the library, you can start anywhere. Whether you’re searching for your own sense of home or you just love hearing how others have found theirs, these episodes will help you explore a world outside of your bubble. The official website for the project is www.MyHomeIsSpecial.com, where I’ll share episodes and photo links. You can also see my photos at www.KBevPhoto.com or follow @KBevPhoto on Instagram.

Ep 58: Designing my life - Lisa's Home

What if "home" isn't a place or a vocation, but a life you design on purpose? My guest on this episode is Lisa, a longtime friend, and for her, home is designing her life. It's easy to overlook how much goes into living the life you actually want. It means taking care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally, and then being present and available for the people and the things that matter most to you. Throughout her career, Lisa has worked toward exactly that, and she's built quite a cool home that lets her live the life she wants. We're all better for it. In our conversation, we explore what that looks like and why it's so special to her. It's a chance to step outside your usual bubble, hear a new perspective, and maybe look at your own life a little differently. Give it a listen. My Home Is Special is available on all major platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Ep 57: Breaking - BBoy Morris' Home

I first snapped B-Boy Morris about 15 years ago, and he’s not just someone who’s deep in breaking culture—he’s been one of the best in the world for a long time, competing and winning at the highest level all around the globe. Breaking is one of the four foundational elements of hip-hop culture, alongside MCing, graffiti writing, and DJing, and it was great to sit down with Morris and talk about a culture that I’ve been close to for so many years. He shares some great stories about growing up, how he first found breaking, and the journey that eventually took him around the world, and I hope this conversation gives people who haven’t had much exposure to the culture a better look at what makes it so special. Morris was a great guest, and I hope you enjoy the conversation. Please visit www.MyHomeIsSpecial.com for the full project and follow @KBevPhoto on Instagram to see what I'm up to. Ep 56: Song & Melody - Gordon's Home

In this episode, I talk with Gordon Chambers about his home in Song & Melody. Even though we had just met, I quickly realized he'd written and helped create some of my favorite songs, making this conversation even more special. Gordon shares why songs and melodies are such powerful forms of expression and how he helps artists find their voice and tell their stories through music. It was a fun conversation that gave me an even deeper appreciation for the craft behind the songs we love, and I hope you'll enjoy this episode and explore the rest of the archive. Ep 55: The Story of Life - Shane's Home

Shane Campbell-Staton is a Princeton professor whose work dives into some of the biggest questions about life on Earth—by studying everything from wolves and elephants to lizards (and even superheroes). As a trailblazer in his field and the first person like him in his department to earn tenure, he’s not just advancing science—he’s reshaping who gets to lead it. Our conversation explores how his research uncovers mysteries about evolution and survival in ways that feel both cutting-edge and deeply human. It’s a fascinating look at a career that pushes boundaries in every sense. Ep 54: Space - Bobby's Home

For the final stop in our three-part journey, we leave the ocean depths and the open sky behind and head all the way into space with astronaut Bobby Satcher. Bobby shares the incredible path that led him to become an astronaut and what it was really like to leave Earth behind and experience space as his workplace—and, in many ways, his home. From big dreams to extraordinary achievements, this conversation offers a fascinating look at a profession that very few people will ever experience firsthand. If you've ever wondered what it takes to reach space, you won't want to miss this episode. What really happens behind the scenes when your flight is delayed or your bag goes missing? In this story, a firsthand look inside one of the nation’s busiest airports reveals the kind of chaos that might make you rethink ever checking luggage again. Recorded at Grown Folks Stories and inspired by the world curated by August guest Eric Williams, this episode pulls back the curtain just enough to keep you hooked. Ep 52: Skydiving - Isa's Home

Skydiving might sound like the ultimate adrenaline rush—but for Isa Watson, it’s something entirely different. Reconnecting after more than a decade, I learned Isa is not only an author and founder with an impressive list of accolades, but also someone who finds a deep sense of peace in freefall. Hearing her describe the sky as a kind of home completely shifts what you think this experience is all about. Before you rule out jumping out of a plane in your lifetime, you’ll want to listen to this episode.. Ep 51: Story Time - Bad travel planning in South Asia

Ever planned a “perfect” trip only to realize you flipped the whole vibe on its head? In this Story Time, a seasoned traveler shares how a dream South Asia itinerary went from calm and easy to unexpectedly chaotic—proving experience doesn’t always equal perfect planning. Recorded live at Grown Folks Stories, the beloved Chicago storytelling event founded by August guest Eric Williams, this one is relatable, funny, and just a little humbling. Tap in, and if it hits home, share it with someone who loves to travel (and plan). Please visit www.MyHomeIsSpecial.com for the full project and follow @KBevPhoto on Instagram to see what I'm up to.
