The Courage to Grow Older

Episode Introduction: The Courage to Grow Older A well-known action star in his 60s recently sparked online rumors after appearing suddenly “younger,” with smooth skin and a noticeably rejuvenated look. Speculations about organ transplants and even full-body blood replacement went viral, bringing the topics of anti-aging, eternal youth, and slowing down aging back into the spotlight. But this episode isn’t about celebrity gossip. It’s about a deeper question: Why are we so afraid of getting older? Watching my own hair gradually turn gray and noticing early signs of aging, I’ve felt that anxiety too. But through years of life experience and faith, I’ve come to realize that aging isn’t a loss—it's a form of grounding, maturity, and inner calm. If life were eternal, there would be no innovation and no passing of the torch. Just like the old saying goes, “Every generation brings forth new talents.” The cycle of life is part of nature’s design. In this episode, I also share my own struggles in my early twenties: the confusion after military service, dissatisfaction with my first job, seeking guidance from my father but finding no clear direction, and that unforgettable feeling of uncertainty while riding my motorcycle at age 23. Today, at 50, my responsibilities are heavier and the challenges are greater—but I carry a deeper sense of acceptance and peace than I ever had in my youth. I no longer wish to turn back time or chase “reverse aging.” Instead, I appreciate the present version of myself. And I’ve learned to enjoy both moments of sunrise and sunset. In this episode, I share my reflections on the illusion of immortality, the modern obsession with anti-aging, and how true peace doesn’t come from an ageless body— but from accepting every chapter of life as it unfolds. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn

EP16_讀書的真正用途 the true purpose of reading.

In this episode of the Podcast, I’ll take you to reflect on the true purpose of reading. Many people say reading is useless, that society values experience, connections, and skills more. But through a recent encounter with a scam, I deeply realized this: reading sharpens one’s perspective and decision-making. In what seemed like a pleasant interaction, I gradually noticed the other person’s hidden motives. What allowed me to stay calm and step away was the wisdom I had gained from books—like Confucius’ words, “At fifty, one knows the mandate of Heaven”, or Laozi’s teaching, “Thus the gentleman travels all day without leaving his baggage.” These passages became my guardrails and protection when facing life’s complex situations. If you’ve ever questioned the value of reading, this episode might give you a new perspective. 👉 Tune in and hear how reading has helped me resist temptations and traps in life. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn

The Miracle of Life: Returning to Vietnam Helped Me Understand What I Truly Want

🎙️ EP|The Miracle of Life: Returning to Vietnam Helped Me Understand What I Truly Want In this episode, I want to share with you a journey that spans Vietnam, Indonesia, and back to Vietnam again. It all started with a simple wish—to properly enshrine a Bodhisattva in my home. But through the ups and downs of working abroad, I’ve come to understand the meaning of a line from a Chinese drama I’m currently watching: “Love the sunny days, and love the rainy ones too.” That is, to embrace whatever life brings and to listen carefully to what your heart truly desires. Even though my life and job in Indonesia were stable and comfortable, the deep sense of belonging I felt for Vietnam—my first real “home”—ultimately led me back. In this episode, I sincerely share: Why I chose to leave a seemingly ideal life in Indonesia to return to Vietnam How faith, culture, and lifestyle differences shaped my sense of belonging How this journey brought me closer to my true self 🌸 If you’re also standing at a crossroads in life, perhaps this episode will bring you a bit of strength and clarity. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
