    Jalen Hurts, Media Narratives & When the Hype Needs to Stop

    We opened the show by diving into the recent GQ feature on Jalen Hurts. While we thought the article was a worthwhile read and gave fans a different look at Hurts, we also felt there was plenty of meat left on the bone. We discussed how we would have approached an interview with Hurts ourselves, the questions we would have asked, and why very few of his answers actually surprised us considering his background and the way he has always carried himself. From there, the conversation went all over the NFL. We discussed the way certain quarterbacks are perceived and defended by the media, particularly QBs playing for franchises that don't have a long history of winning. Why do some quarterbacks seem to get endless excuses while others are expected to shoulder the blame? That eventually led us into offensive line projections, team expectations, and a bigger issue we see every year: some teams continue to receive massive preseason hype despite failing to deliver when it matters. At some point, the results have to matter. If a team is continuously projected to be a contender and repeatedly falls short, it's time to stop making excuses and start holding them accountable.     The Daejon Love Scam, Eagles Final Preseason Takeaways & NCAA Failure

    Today’s episode went completely off the rails as we opened with the Daejon Love scam and the absolutely hilarious “practice footage” that somehow made the entire situation even more ridiculous.  For someone supposedly so committed to pulling off the scam, the footage was about as "convincing" as it gets. We then shifted to the Eagles and broke down parts of their third and final preseason game. From the Tanner McKee vs. Andy Dalton conversation to Makai Lemon making his debut, Erik and Matt discussed some of the biggest takeaways as the Eagles wrapped up their preseason schedule. We closed the show with a bigger conversation about the NCAA and the complete joke surrounding failed professional athletes being able to return to college and continue getting paid. The guys discuss why the NCAA desperately needs to step up and become an actual governing body with firm rules and accountability before the entire system becomes even more broken.
