Why Women Need to Stop Dating Potential

Send us Fan Mail “He has potential” might be one of the most expensive sentences a woman can say in dating. How many of us have stayed in situationships, given endless chances, or fallen in love with the person we believe a man could become instead of the man he’s actually showing us? In this episode of Honestly Tho, we’re talking about the difference between recognizing a man’s potential and committing to the possibility of who he might become. Because there’s a difference between a man who is actively working toward growth and a man you’re creating a whole blueprint for. Ladies, are we dating men or managing renovation projects? We’ll get into why patience doesn’t always mean permanence, why you can believe in someone’s growth without volunteering to wait for it, and the uncomfortable question we all need to ask ourselves: If he never becomes the person I believe he can be, would I still want him? Because the truth is, I still believe in people. I believe in growth, evolution, and second chances. I believe in seeing the good in someone, even when they’re still figuring things out. But I’m learning that somebody else’s potential is not my assignment. Sometimes, our greatest strength—seeing the good in people—becomes our biggest dating weakness when we start loving who someone could be more than who they actually are. Come as you are. I discuss why I think it is more important to be kind than it is to be nice, and why the two are not interchangeable. And if you've ever heard the saying that "nice guys finish last," you'll understand why I say this. Then I get into dating and what does a man owe you after 3 months of dating. Is there a difference between what you think he owes you, and what you deserve? I unpack the things I think he does owe you, and what he doesn't. And ladies, we're talking reciprocity too! If he's showing up for you, are you showing up for him? And then, I had to unpack how hard it is not have chemistry with someone but not compatibility, and how daunting that can be. While many people think chemistry is what's most important, realistically, compatibility is more important. You can have attraction and sexual tension with someone, but if you aren't compatible, the relationship will not work. Love, Lust, & Legacy: The Truth About Modern Men At 40 Ft. MoosieWins
