    #390 Chicago Marathon Pro Field Recap (Vinny Mauri for President)

What a race this was - despite slightly warm temps the race was still very fast up front and exciting!  We started talking about the women’s overall race where Hawi Feysa defended her title over Sharon Lokedi! The American women were led by Emma Grace Hurley’s debut in a stunning 2:20 time, the fastest debut ever by an American! On the men’s side, Amos Kipruto turned the tables on defending champ and favorite Jacob Kiplimo, running the 5th fastest time all time in 2:01 low! We spent a lot of time covering the men’s American race, which was highly anticipated and definitely lived up to the hype. Vinny Mauri made a bold move around halfway but suffered cramps late, and veteran Clayton Young was able to take advantage and secure top American!     #386 - Chicago Marathon Elite Field Preview

I broke it up into top contenders for each field and then top Americans to look out for in each field. On the men’s side, the overwhelming favorite is returning champ Jacob Kiplimo! The American race is particularly exciting with an American record attempt going down from Clayton Young and top competitors Charles Hicks and Vinny Mauri looking for huge performances. On the women’s side, the field is led by 2:14 women Brigid Kosgei and Hawi Feysa! Feysa won Chicago last year but Brigid Kosgei defeated her handily at Tokyo earlier this year. Sharon Lokedi looks to prove she is a top competitor on flat courses as well! The American women’s field has legends Sara Hall and Des Linden.
