It’s through sharing these stories that we hope to demystify physiological breast feeding and see the patterns in this modern world: a world that is generally unsupportive to breastfeeding, with obstacles like sabotaged birth, separation of mother and baby, and devaluation of the postpartum time.     In the final episode of season 1 your hosts come together to discuss the success of completing the first season and the team work that made it possible. Claire and Caitlin discuss the realities of creating this podcast while also mothering as well as what they have learned from the women and their stories.     Rio's Story

    The final story for Season 1 is Rio’s story. Rio tells us about her pain free homebirth and unfortunately how her immediate postpartum was sabotaged by impatient midwives. Rio had a lot of fear and traumatic stories around breastfeeding so when it was a struggle to latch and breastfeed she needed support from an IBCLC and nipple shields. Her story is ultimately triumphant and an incredible example of how a mother’s perseverance and community support can transform breastfeeding struggle into breastfeeding ease.     Jessyl's Story

    This week’s episode brings us Jessyl sharing the stories of free birthing 4 out of 5 children and breastfeeding all of them. This episode had a few technical difficulties in recording but the wealth of knowledge and dynamics in these stories should make up for it! Jessyl tells us how she navigated bottle preference with her first son, and how raising birds helped her design her path through weaning all the children, as well as cultural differences in attitudes around breastfeeding.  We are always looking for women who want to share their breastfeeding stories.
