    Sutra 2.13: Fruit of Action

    PATANJALI’S YOGASUTRAS | SADHNAPADA | SUTRA 2.13 सति मूले तद्विपाको जात्यायुर्भोगाः ॥१३॥ Sati mūle tadvipāko jātyāyurbhogāḥ ||13|| “So long as the root exists, its fruition is birth, life-span, and life-experience.” The purpose of this sutra is to explain the kinds of karmas or actions that are afflicted and how they present in and influence present and future lives.     Sutra 2.12: Birth & Rebirth

    PATANJALI’S YOGASUTRAS | SADHNAPADA | SUTRA 2.12 क्लेशमूलः कर्माशयो दृष्टादृष्टजन्मवेदनीयः ॥१२॥ kleśa-mūlaḥ karma-āśayaḥ-dṛṣta-adṛṣta-janma-vedanīyaḥ ||12|| “The vehicle of actions has its origin in afflictions, and is experienced in visible-and invisible births.” The purpose of this sutra is to explain that afflictions give rise to actions which give rise to present and future births and their states.     Sutra 2.10 : Involution

    YOGASUTRAS | SADHNAPADA | SUTRA 2.10 ते प्रतिप्रसवहेयाः सूक्ष्माः ॥१०॥ te prati-prasava-heyāḥ sūkṣmāḥ ||10|| “Those kleshas are reducible by involution when they are subtle.” The purpose of this sutra is to explain how afflictions can be removed by the involutionary process, like cutting a tree from the top down, or down up.     Sutra 2.9: Clinging to life

    Chapter 2: Sadhana pada. स्वरस्वाहि विदुषोऽपि समारूढोऽभिनिवेशः ॥९॥ sva-rasa-vāhī viduṣaḥ api samā-rūḍhaḥ abhiniveśaḥ ||9|| "Flowing on by its own potency, established all the-same even in the wise, is Love of Life."     Suffering dwells in hatred

    Chapter 2: Sadhana pada दुःखानुशयी द्वेषः ॥८॥ duḥkha-anuśayī dveṣaḥ ||8|| "Aversion is the sequential repulsion from pain."
