Two guys that love the bible, having fun and going off script invite you into their bible study they have been doing together for over 12 years! Instead of reading a whole chapter at a time, they bite off a small piece of scripture that they deliver to you just like a pizza...in 30 minutes or less!!! Using their innate curiosity and the help of their Life Application bible footnotes, their bible study is refreshing and fun! They are not bible scholars by any means but just two regular, everyday guys who turned their bible study from an obligation or Christian duty into a fun time that they look forward to and actually grow closer to God during! Their hope is that it will provide you with a refreshing way to get into God’s word, help you see how using the Life Application bible can help you gain further insight into the scriptures and maybe prompt you to find a friend or two that you can do a similar style of bible study on your own! Our tempo in 30 minutes or less for each episode is to: * Open with a small discussion and prayer * Read a small bite of scripture * See if there are any verses that pop out to us or we have any inspired insight on. * Read the Life Application footnotes for the scripture that was read and discuss what was shared and/or any ”ah ha” moments! * Close in prayer. Give us a listen and we guarantee you will have some fun with us (or at least be able to poke some fun at us)! Be great and enjoy the gift of today! :) Proverbs 27:17 Shout out to Dmitrii Kolesnikov providing rights to the intro/exit music at https://pixabay.com/users/the_mountain-3616498/

Episode 303 - Luke 22:54-71 - When Remorse Sets In

In this episode we unpack Luke 22:54–71, the painful scene where Peter denies Jesus three times, hears the rooster crow, and weeps bitterly. The hosts reflect on the human tendency to fail under pressure, the sting of disappointment when we let down those we love, and the depth of Jesus’ sorrow and mercy. They also cover Jesus’ appearance before the council, his affirmation of being the Son of God, and how the religious leaders interpret that claim as blasphemy. Through commentary and insights, the episode emphasizes repentance, the healing power of forgiveness, and how even failure can shape and refine leaders like Peter. Practical takeaways include a call to confess sin early, rely on God’s strength rather than self-reliance, and remember that redemption and restoration are possible when we turn back to Christ. Episode 302 - Luke 22:47-56 - Came to Heal, not Fight

In this episode we read Luke 22:47 onwards and witness the painful betrayal and arrest of Jesus. Judas identifies Jesus with a kiss, the disciples react with force, and Jesus stops the violence by healing the injured servant. Despite the power in Jesus’ words and actions, he is taken away into the night. The episode also begins Peter’s journey from bravado to denial as he follows at a distance and faces the consequences of fear and circumstance. Throughout the discussion, the hosts reflect on the human emotions involved—sleepiness, confusion, and the weight of looming events—while emphasizing the redemptive arc that follows: Jesus’ obedience, the role of Satan in the darkness of the hour, and Peter’s eventual repentance and restoration. The episode invites listeners to examine their own hearts and respond with repentance and faith. Episode 301 - Luke 22:39-46 - Building the Bridge

In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 22:39–46, focusing on Jesus’ agonizing prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. They read the passage aloud, reflect on Jesus withdrawing to pray, and highlight his honest plea, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me,” followed by his submission, “not my will, but yours be done.” The discussion emphasizes the depth of Jesus’ anguish—his prayer became more earnest, an angel strengthened him, and Luke notes his sweat was like drops of blood. The hosts stress that Jesus experienced extreme mental and spiritual torment yet chose to fulfill God’s plan for redemption. They also examine the disciples’ role: Jesus urges them to pray so they will not fall into temptation, but they fall asleep, exhausted and sorrowful. The episode connects this moment to the disciples’ upcoming tests of faith, including Peter’s predicted denial, and warns listeners about spiritual vulnerability when tired or distracted. Practical takeaways include being honest with God about our doubts and fears, developing a habit of prayer both alone and with friends, and preparing spiritually for difficult times. The hosts close with prayer and encourage listeners to be known as people who pray, stay alert, and support one another in faith. Episode 300 — Luke 22:24-38 - Faltered, not Destroyed

In this milestone 300th episode the hosts celebrate the journey, thank listeners, and invite them to share and connect. They read and discuss Luke 22:24–38, exploring a tense moment at the Last Supper when the disciples argue about who is greatest. Jesus teaches that true leadership in God’s kingdom is humble service, not worldly status—echoing the foot-washing example—and warns of coming trials. The episode covers Jesus’ prediction of Judas’ betrayal and Peter’s denial, and how Satan seeks to sift the disciples like wheat. The hosts unpack the confusing sword imagery and practical instructions Jesus gives, and emphasize the difference between failure and finality: Peter falters but is restored and becomes a leader, while repentance makes the decisive difference. Through prayer and personal application, they encourage listeners to adopt a servant’s heart, learn from mistakes, and keep their focus on Christ. The episode closes with gratitude, a prayer, and a call to share the gospel and the podcast. Hosts reflect on their podcast format and milestones before diving into Luke 22:14 and the Last Supper. They discuss the Passover meal, the four cups of the Seder, and Jesus instituting communion—breaking bread and sharing the cup as the new covenant in his blood. The episode examines the tension of Jesus naming a betrayer at the table, the role of Judas, and how communion commemorates Christ’s sacrifice. Different theological views on the Lord’s Supper are outlined, and listeners are invited to reflect, remember, and share the hope of the gospel. In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 22, exploring the plot of the religious leaders, Judas's betrayal when "Satan entered Judas," and the preparations for the Passover and the Last Supper. They reflect on Luke's portrait of Jesus as the "perfect man" and the model and sacrifice for humanity, emphasizing the heart behind actions and God’s larger plan. Discussion highlights include how Luke condenses eyewitness material, the unsettling moment of Satan entering Judas, the practical details of finding the upper room, and the deeper spiritual lessons about motive, pride, and faith. Episode 297 - Luke 21:25-33 - The Airport Test

This episode examines Luke 21:25–36, where Jesus describes the signs of his return, uses the fig tree parable to explain how to recognize the times, and urges believers to stay watchful and prayerful amid persecution and worldly anxieties. The hosts discuss Jesus’ promise to give words and wisdom in times of trial, reflect on different views of the end times (including a pre-tribulation perspective), and offer practical life applications — like resisting anxiety, staying spiritually fit, and ‘‘putting on the full armor of God.’’ Through relatable analogies and prayer, the episode encourages listeners to stand firm, share the gospel courageously, and live ready for Christ’s coming. Episode 296 - Luke 21:5-24 - The Jetsons

In this episode Jim and Dale dive into Luke 21 (also compared with Matthew 24 and Mark 13) to explore Jesus’ words about the future. They unpack Jesus’ prophecy that the temple would be destroyed, how that was fulfilled in A.D. 70, and what the larger signs of the age—false messiahs, wars, earthquakes, famines, and pestilence—mean for believers today. The hosts discuss the reality of persecution, betrayal, and suffering that Christians may face, but also emphasize Jesus’ promise to be with his followers—giving them the words and wisdom they need, preserving them spiritually, and assuring eternal life even amid danger. Using relatable analogies (including a Jetsons/technology comparison and a food/recipe metaphor), they encourage listeners to know Scripture deeply, stay discerning of false teachers, and live ready each day. They close with a call to share the gospel boldly, practical encouragement to be prepared, and an invitation to connect via social media or email at thosecrazybiblestudyguys@gmail.com.
