    Snapchat and Stupidity: Murder of Ryan Cooper– Ep.126

    In this episode of Crisis & Consequences, we examine the shocking 2021 murder of Ryan Cooper, a devoted father of four from the small farming town of Traer, Iowa. What initially appeared to be a possible home invasion quickly unraveled into a disturbing web of deception, obsessive Snapchat messages, digital evidence, and an affair that spiraled into murder.  As investigators dug deeper into the case, they uncovered thousands of Snapchat exchanges between Ryan’s wife, Karina Cooper, and a much younger farmhand named Huston Danker. By the early morning hours of June 18th, Ryan was dead — shot twice in the face while asleep in his recliner.  His wife, Karina Cooper, called 911 in hysterics, insisting an intruder must have entered the home. But investigators quickly found inconsistencies in the story. No signs of forced entry. No evidence of an intruder.     Attempted Murder of Hannah Pettey– Ep.125

    In this episode of Crisis & Consequences, we examine the shocking attempted murder case of Hannah Pettey — a young Alabama mother whose husband allegedly poisoned her slowly over months with lead-filled capsules while presenting himself as a loving caregiver.  What began as mysterious illness, rapid weight loss, and debilitating pain would eventually uncover a calculated pattern of coercive control, financial manipulation, and attempted murder hidden behind the image of a respected healthcare professional.  This is the story of survival, gaslighting, domestic abuse, and the terrifying reality that danger sometimes comes from the person closest to you.    ⚠️ Content Warning  This episode contains discussions of attempted murder, domestic violence, coercive control, gaslighting, poisoning, psychological abuse, medical trauma, and emotional manipulation. Listener discretion is strongly advised.    Episode Summary  Hannah Pettey appeared to have a picture-perfect life in Hartselle, Alabama. Married young to chiropractor Brian Thomas Mann, she was raising children and building a family life in a close-knit Southern community.  But behind closed doors, Hannah’s world was narrowing. According to testimony later presented in court, Brian isolated her from family, restricted her independence, and controlled many aspects of her life.  Then, during their contentious divorce in 2021, Hannah’s health began to collapse.  After Brian gave her “vitamin capsules” he claimed would boost her immune system, Hannah rapidly became gravely ill. She lost more than 40 pounds in just a few months, became too weak to walk unassisted, suffered severe pain, and eventually experienced life-threatening seizures.  Doctors at UAB Hospital discovered the horrifying cause: extreme lead poisoning.  Investigators later alleged Brian Mann had been secretly filling capsules with lead particles and feeding them to Hannah over a period of months — all while taking out multiple life insurance policies worth more than $1 million on her life.  The case became national news not only because of the poisoning itself, but because of the profound psychological manipulation surrounding it.     Unmasking The BTK Strangler– Ep.121

    In this episode of Crisis & Consequences, we examine the chilling case of Dennis Rader—better known as the BTK Killer.
