I’ve watched Ann on VPR and have listened to Amanda on the Viall Files a few years ago, so I truly wanted to like this, but it’s garbage, unfortunately.
I’ve listened to 2, maybe 3 episodes a while back, but I fell asleep during the last one back then for several reasons.
Ann and Amanda often interrupt one another in a chaotic way with thoughts that seem underdeveloped at times.
Their voice tones range from super low to shrill quite quickly, and they often break into giddy laughter while making points, so it’s difficult to follow. Instead of being taken on a fun, unpredictable journey, I fell asleep while listening.
I tried yet again, but I just spent the last episode listening to the most boring, basic and fake as hell person - Janet Caperna.
Listening to Janet with her planned speeches is as much fun as watching paint dry. There is nothing authentic about her.
Example: Janet knows that Nia and Danny have been big believers in individual and couples therapy as they have both shared that they have been going to therapy alone and together since before they were married.
Suddenly in this interview, Janet is claiming that her and Jason are big believers in therapy, which Janet has admitted she has just begun. Janet comes across as a total narcissist and should have begun therapy a while back before launching into this season still acting like an antagonistic, manipulative, narcissistic lying POS towards many of her cast members.
All I can think is that Janet is portraying this “good person” side to Ann, almost like a love bombing situation. Ann seems to believe the best in some people, yet comes across as very naive and unaware. I would pay close attention to Janet and how she treat people whom she dislikes because that is the sign of a person’s true character.
Also, Janet and Jason’s “meet cute” story is hilarious, since we all know that Janet “Single White Femaled” Scheana’s life, lol. Jason was one of Scheana’s past hookups before he was with Janet. The real meeting between both was originally via Scheana, and Janet is obsessed with being in that circle, so she went for Jason for that reason.
As for this podcast, Ann and Amanda are clearly quirky and could have a lively fun podcast, but they need to do much work on their podcast before it becomes that. As it is, it’s not listenable to me, but I wish them luck.
