Ep #122 - You’re Allowed to Do Less — interview with Christi Gmyr

This week I’m joined by fellow coach and licensed mental health counsellor Christi Gmyr for a brilliant conversation about burnout, motherhood and the ridiculous pressure so many working mums put on themselves to do everything — and do it all well. We talk about where those expectations come from, why the word “should” can create so much unnecessary pressure, and what happens when you start asking yourself a very simple question: What if I didn’t? What if the house wasn’t spotless? What if dinner wasn’t perfect? What if you asked for help? What if you stopped trying to squeeze absolutely everything in? What if you allowed yourself to do a little bit less? We also explore why taking time for yourself isn’t selfish, why an hour spent on yourself can actually be an hour invested, and how letting go of some of the pressure can help you show up as a calmer, more present version of yourself — at home and at work. If you constantly feel like you should be doing more, managing things better or somehow keeping everybody happy, this episode is your permission slip to put some of it down. Because you really don’t have to do it all. Ep #119 - Intrusive Thoughts and Big Feelings with Emmie Fulton

I absolutely LOVED this conversation. In this episode, I’m joined by my friend, psychologist, solo mum of three and creator of Hero Cards, Emmie Fulton, for a gorgeous conversation about intrusive thoughts, big feelings and the emotional tools our children need long before adulthood.  And yes, we go there. We shared our intrusive thoughts (you have them too and they're normal btw). We felt uncomfortable. It was freeing. If you listen, it will be freeing for you too.  Emmie shares how her work in the NHS, mental health, behavioural science and motherhood inspired her to create Hero Cards — a set of cards designed to help children understand what’s going on in their minds, recognise their feelings, and build emotional resilience in a simple, practical and accessible way. We talk about why thoughts are not facts, why big feelings don’t mean something has gone wrong, and how we can support our children without needing to fix everything for them. We also explore perfectionism, people-pleasing, avoidance, anxiety, and the importance of helping children feel safe with the full human experience. And as always, this conversation isn’t just for the kids. There is so much in here for us as grown-ups too. If you’ve ever wanted your child to understand themselves better, feel less alone in their worries, or have tools to manage those big emotional moments, this episode is a beautiful place to start. Ep #118 - Stop Apologising for What You Know

Have you ever found yourself shrinking back, downplaying what you know, or apologising for your experience before you’ve even said the sentence? In this episode, I’m talking about how to start stepping into your authority — especially when you’re in a space where people might underestimate you, dismiss you, or see you as less experienced than you actually are. Because here’s the truth: you do not need to apologise for your wisdom. You do not need to make yourself smaller so other people feel more comfortable. And you do not need to wait for someone else to validate you before you start holding yourself differently. I’m sharing five practical steps to help you begin shifting the way you see yourself, speak about yourself, and show up in your work and life — even when it feels uncomfortable. This episode is for you if you know, deep down, that you’re capable, experienced and powerful… but you’re ready to actually start believing it. You’ll learn: Why other people’s first impression of you is not yours to controlHow your own identity shapes the way you hold yourselfWhy discomfort is part of confidence-buildingThe importance of celebrating small winsHow to begin stepping into the woman you already know you areStop apologising for what you know. It’s time to own it.
