MIDDLE AGE MOVIE REVIEWSEpisode 106 - The Godfather (Leave the Gun Take the Cannoli) Directed by Francis Ford Coppola On this episode of Middle Age Movie Reviews the guys are joined by two other members of another podcast family as Andres and Jeff S. show up to discuss this tale of business and families. The guys talk about the 1972 film The Godfather. This time Matt turns the tables on the puppet master and requests Tim to give the synopsis as though he were Vito Corleone. Tim gives a surprisingly accurate portrayal of Marlon Brando's Vito. Rick and Matt both tell of their history of watching this film for the first time. Rick again talks about his cousin from Sicily and how much he influenced watching this movie. Rick also gives us his insights to Michael Corleone's character and his rise in the family. Jeff and Andres also give their thoughts to Sonny and the families history and the business of the Corleone family. Andres gives a little bit of the time he first saw this Francis Ford Coppola classic. Finally the guys discuss this films rating on IMDB and how it rates on their own personal DeathClocks. Starring John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter, and Natalie Wood.The guys go through their first time watching this film and their first initial impressions of this movie and its effect on them. Matt then writes a lovely letter to a fictional character describing the story's plot and what we are all instore for in this film. The guys also reviews one of the trailers to this 1956 classic. Tim gives us a little background on John Wayne and what he thinks of this films story and his opinions on John Ford and his use of scope for the film. Matt also tells us a little bit about his feelings on the film and what he thought of the cinematography. MIDDLE AGE MOVIE REVIEWSEpisode 104 - Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (Spoiler Heavy Review) Directed by John Favreau On this episode of Middle Age Movie Reviews the guys continue their discussion of The Mandalorian and Grogu but they get spoiler heavy. Tim makes comparisons of Grogu's actions on Nal Hutta and Yoda's on Dagobah. Matt discusses how much this movie changes focus from one character to another in a jarring way. Rick gives us his thoughts on Mando's actions within the pit with the White Dragon that seems an awful lot like a Basilisk from Harry Potter. Along with that Rick and Tim discuss the role filled by Sigourney Weaver and how she seems a little too big of a star for the role. Finally, Andres gives us a lengthy dissertation as to why there is no way that Mando was going to die in this film. Andres also tells us what he thinks of the puppetry of Grogu and how it reminds him so much of his younger self watching Jim Henson movies. The guys dive back into the Star Wars universe with The Mandalorian and Grogu. Rick gives us a quick summation of the film not being apart of the book but rather a different book one that Disney films may or may not publish. Matt gives a breakdown of the films synopsis without getting too spoilery. While Tim tells us what he thinks might be a pivot for Star Wars fans and how they just may enjoy this film in the coming months if not years. Rick and Tim give both there initial watch impressions; one finds the film to be a bit on the artist side, while the other acknowledges the human and moral view point of the film. All five members talk a little about the actors and the impact their performances brought to the characters or how little they cared for the people they portrayed. To commemorate this squirrelly film the guys decide to make a drinking game out of their review. Tim, gets a little messed up will discussing the film as they attempt to not say some key words that would cause them to drink. Needless to say, they don't exactly succeed in staying sober for the discussion. Matt runs us through the convoluted storyline that focuses on two guys looking to score drugs in East L.A. In there little quest they get deported to Tijuana and have to make there way back home while driving a van completely made of weed. Will the guys finish their review under three hours?
