    EP7: Batman Year Two

After FRANK MILLER revamped the character, DC was at a crossroads regarding BATMAN. How to proceed after such a radical reset? MIKE W. BARR stepped in and, along with artists ALAN DAVIS, PAUL NEARY and newcomer TODD MCFARLANE, sought to continue reimagining the Dark Knight Detective. What they created glanced back into the rich history of the Caped Crusader, while also introducing new friends and foes. Readers were also given a prescient peek into the future of the comics world, a future far more extreme and unusual in content and artwork. Underrated classic? Overrated jumble of ideas? The guys try to decide where BATMAN YEAR TWO fits in the vast pantheon of the Masked Manhunter! EP6: Revenge of the Living Monolith

Released in October of 1985, REVENGE OF THE LIVING MONOLITH was a pretty standard Marvel story, blown up to widescreen proportions by being issued as a graphic novel at a time when the medium was fairly new. But dig a little deeper and the importance of this tale begins to grow. Through circumstances unforeseen and not yet apparent, REVENGE OF THE LIVING MONOLITH presents a run of the mill superhero team up tale that seems to gain in importance with each passing year. Join the MF&SB crew as we recap the mayhem, the righteousness, the courage and the pathos that make REVENGE OF THE LIVING MONOLITH an enthralling comic book adventure. All this and the indispensable Hassan, too! EP4: The Death of Jean DeWolff

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man...NO MORE!! Well, for short time, anyway. Even Spider-Man couldn't escape the wave of darkness that shrouded the comic industry during the 80's, and we don't just mean his costume. In the pages of the ALL NEW, ALL DARING Spectacular Spider-Man, a young writer named Peter David plunged Spidey headfirst into the grimness and grittiness of the era, killing off one of Peter Parker's allies and taking the wall crawler down a path unfamiliar to the character and his fans. Does the story still hold up? Does Spider-Man work as a darker character? The MF&SB boys discuss all this and more on a super sized new episode...listen, or Jean Dewolff died in vain....
