    In Christ, You are...

    This week we spent time looking at Paul's words from Ephesians 1. As we dove into these verses we were remained that even before the galaxies were created the Creator loved, chose, adopted, redeemed and forgave you. He did all of this through His Son, Jesus Christ. We saw that when we are in Christ, we have an identity that is unchanging and the proof, or guarentee of that identity is the "seal" that God gives us in His Holy Spirit. Our challenge was to spend more time reading and knowing our true identity and less time listening to all the noise in the world that tries to give you an unstable identity to build your life on.     Following Hard After Jesus

    This week we were challenged by the words of David in Psalm 63:8, the words of Jesus from Mark 8 and the actions of the early Church in Acts 2 to consider what it is that we are truly following hard after. We saw how David even in the wilderness, running for his life from the enemy wanted nothing more than to follow hard after God. Then we saw how Jesus didn't hide the costs of truly following Him when He explained that to follow Him meant to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. This wasn't a call to comfort but it was a call to dying to our selfish ambitions and desires and to live for His will and His purpose each day. We then saw this played out through the early church as the devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, breaking of bread together, prayer and serving others. As we begin to truly follow hard after Jesus with a costly commitment, the Lord can and will add to the number daily those being saved. This should be our ultimate goal of being a Christ follower, not just to make a one time decision for ourselves, but to make a daily decision so that the world around us can see Jesus through us and come to a saving relationship with Him as well.     Safe, Known & Loved

    This week Courtney taught us from Romans 8:15. She walked us through what the exile was like and how it was a time of uneasiness, identity loss and feeling no value or love. What we saw was that through all of scripture God has always been trying to rewrite that narrative so that our hearts and minds would align in knowing that in Him we always have and always will be safe, known and loved.     Proverbs: More Than Ancient Wisdom Week 4

    This week we look at Proverbs 11:25 alongside Jesus' declaration of being our source of light and life and then giving us the same identity and calling us to let that light shine. We see through these passages that true generosity and refreshing comes when we choose to shine the light of Jesus in simple ordinary daily moments with the goal of God glorification not self-promotin.     Proverbs: More Than Ancient Wisdom Week 3

    This week we look at Proverbs 17:22 alongside Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11:28-30 to come to Him and find rest. We see through these passages that when we are weary, depleted, and running on empty, Jesus offers something the world cannot provide. Instead of trying to push through exhaustion on our own, we can turn to Jesus and trust in His ability to restore and fill us.
