    Unwined: The food, rum and culture of Martinique!

    Today on Unwined with Mandi, we’re diving into the food, rum and culture of Martinique as Martinique Gourmande returns to the city. I’m joined by Muriel Wiltord from the Martinique Tourism Committee, Martinican chef Prisca Morjon, and Ralph Couteperoumal from Trois Rivières rum to talk about the flavours of the island, what makes Martinican cuisine so distinctive, and of course, its incredible rhum agricole.     Unwined: Tawse Winery

    Tawse Winery is celebrating 25 years in Niagara, and what a way to mark the occasion. The winery has just been named Canadian Winery of the Year for an incredible fifth time. This week on Unwined with Mandi, we celebrate the people, wines and vision behind one of Ontario’s most celebrated wineries. Owner Moray Tawse takes us back to the beginning and shares his thoughts on how far Ontario wine has come, what it feels like to celebrate 25 years, and where the winery is headed next. We’ll also meet Head Winemaker Jessica Otting and Vineyard Manager Augusta VanMuyen, two super talented young women helping shape the next chapter at Tawse. Plus, we’ll talk Niagara, what makes this region so special, and feature some standout Tawse wines.... including a special sparkling wine created to celebrate their 25 years.

Then we're heading to Quebec's beautiful Eastern Townships to visit Vignoble Pigeon Hill. I'll be joined by Kevin Shufelt to hear the remarkable story behind this family-run winery, from how it all began to how it's grown into one of the province's most exciting wine destinations. We'll also talk about regenerative farming, what makes their wines so unique, and why Quebec continues to surprise people with the quality of its wines. And finally, we'll finish the show by taking a journey to Japan with one of the world's most celebrated whiskies—Hibiki. James Bowker will join us to explore what makes Japanese whisky so distinctive, the meticulous craftsmanship behind every bottle, and why Hibiki has become a favourite for life's biggest celebrations.

    Unwined: Italy's rare grapes and French rosé

    This week on Unwined with Mandi, we're travelling from Italy to France before ending our journey in beautiful Nova Scotia. First, we head to the Veneto to meet Francesco Favaretto from Carezzabella Winery, a small family-run estate producing organic wines and cultivating a rare grape variety found almost nowhere else in Italy. Next, we're off to Provence, where Nicolas Touchard from Dupéré Barrera joins us to talk about one of the South of France's most exciting rosé producers and its special connection to Quebec. Finally, winemaker Simon Rafuse from Blomidon Estate Winery takes us to Nova Scotia, where we'll explore the unique challenges and rewards of making wine in one of Canada's coolest wine regions—and why these wines deserve more attention.

First, I sit down with Véronique Hombreaux from Mouton Cadet to explore the winery's Fair for Life certification and what ethical, sustainable winemaking really means—for the people who grow the grapes, the communities they support, and ultimately, the wines we enjoy. Then we're off to Tuscany to meet Ettore Arturo Rizzi of Fattoria Le Pupille. We'll dive into the history of this celebrated estate, the philosophy behind its wines, and highlight a few bottles you can pick up right here at the SAQ. Then, we'll travel to Tuscany to meet Antonio Michael Zaccheo from Carpineto. He'll share the fascinating history of this family-owned winery, the philosophy behind their wines, and introduce us to an exciting new sparkling wine that's sure to become one of your favourite summer pours.   Plus, I'll share my Wines of the Week, featuring a few refreshing bottles perfect for patios, barbecues, and warm summer evenings.
