    A New Leash on Life

    So, starting off, quick note. Cory the Common Idiot is no longer on the show. He will not be a part of anything going forward. Moving on, this week Associate Producer Idiot Beth and Kent the Doctor Idiot bring on some fine folks from Almost Home Humane Society in Lafayette, Indiana. Brittany Tommila, director, and Lacie Eastman, the medical team manager, talk with the Idiots about the challenges, struggles, and creativity of medicine in a shelter. They talk about how they can string a budget, improv medical procedures, and still show the love and compassion each animal needs, including taking on ones that would be put down somewhere else. They also talk fundraising, and while it's too late for this year's event, they talk about the yearly St Patrick Day's .1k. Yes, you read that right. Even Kent can do that. And there's beer at the end!!     Influencing the Vet World with Dr. Emily King

    We don't wanna brag, but The Idiots got to have a sit down with Dr. Emily King, TikTok Influencer and veterinarian extraordinaire, and it was a great time. They discuss pets, faith, family and vet care, as well as being overshadowed by Johnny (this will make sense, trust me), why all vet clinics should have a social media team ("your client should know you before they know you"), and the responsibility an influencer carries when people listen to their words. Dr King is great about showing a world via social media that is digestable and interesting for both client and vet pro sides. Don't just take our word for it, check her out below. She will amaze you!     Dr Strangekent (Or How Animals Learned to Stop Scurrying and Love the Bomb) with William R. A. Rush

    Are you ready for a Tuesday matinee with the Idiots, plus their buddy Bill (Aka 152 award winning director, writer, film producer, lawyer, animal enthusiast, possible serial killer, kung fu fighter, and lover of the ladies William R. A. Rush...who strangely enough, wasn't in a hurry to be done with the Idiots, hence a two part episode) talk animals in film. The trio discuss film techniques, why working with animals is a problem (dogs tend to be too happy), and then venture into 3 classic films that involve real animals and how some of their most iconic scenes were shot. Interspattered with "Cujo", "Ghost in the Darkness", and "The Edge", they touch on other topics like why you shouldn't watch the documentary "Zoo" for family movie night, the cruel world of hyenas, penguins, ducks, cats, and lions, and why rhino hunting is actually a conservation effort worth backing, and you can still make fun of billionaire's pee pees. Also, they end on a cliffhanger, so you'll want to tune in next week for the exciting conclusion of "Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots". Will the friendships they made along the way be the real treasure? Will Kent kill Cory? Will Cory kill Kent? Will Bill just watch with popcorn clutched as they duke it out?     Rosie the Shark

    Imagine with me for a moment. You go into an abandoned amusement center, urban adventuring, and you see a tank full of greenish fluid. Your flashlight reflects off the glass as the sun sets through broken windows on the other side of the room, and that's when you see it-the silhouette of a giant shark, suspended in time, waiting for her adoring public to return. Rosie is seen, and she's both terrifying and vulnerable. This was a moment that was the catalyst for Rosie's return. Rescued by geologist extraordinaire, palientologist, world traveler, owner of Crystal World, board and/or consult for multiple museums, and all around amazing and down to earth dude (basically everything any kid wanted to be when they grew up) Tom Kapitany, she was given a new lease on life.  She is slowly being preserved for future onlookers, and she is a mirror to the human spirit. Please, listen to her story. Also, side note, we are still planning to release a bunch of videos eventually, and it will make this episode even better. Tom gave us a tour of Crystal World, and as much as we try to describe, it's much better seen than heard. However, the conversation was just too good to get rid of, so apologies for some of the parts that need to be seen.     Social Cognition and Inequity Aversion and Other Words Cory Doesn't Understand with Dr Jim McGetrick

    Good morrow, Idiot Army. This week we have another excellent guest, a friend of recent guest Dr Raffaela Lesch, and super genious from The University of Vienna (yes, Cory and Kent were disappointed to find out this is not where tiny hot dogs come from) Dr Jim McGetrick comes on to discuss social cognition and inequity aversion with dogs, and other animals. They discuss reactions in animals seeing other companions who get more, or less, of treats and how they react, how running tests is as much making sure your own bias is removed as making sure the dogs in the tests aren't smarter than you, and coop with humans, among other topics. Also, it wouldn't be a VM4IBI episode if we didn't have any issues- No, the Idiot Associate Producer Beth did not quit half way through, but her microphone did. You'll notice her sudden silence...she was with us in spirit...or something.     Happy Tuesday, and welcome back. All three Idiots are present to talk about Prions (pronounced Pry-Ons, unless you don't like the taste of Freedom, then it's Pree-Ons) and how folded proteins can affect the brain. Other notable moments is Cory doing a (sounds like a capella but the mic did not pick up his guitar over his voice...you'd think the Idiot Musician would know how mics work, but apparently not) parody of "Mad World" and The Doctor Idiot having the bejeezus scared out of him by his mom.

    Horsin' Around With Dr. Lord (not THAT Lord, though)

    Are you ready for some really cringe jokes that make Dr. Kent want to play in traffic, followed by some really great and inciteful discussions about horse medicine? Then we've got an episode for you. This week, The Idiots talk with Dr. Natalie Lord (who does not turn water into wine, much to our disappointment) about the fun, the frustration, the pride, and the problems with being a horse vet. Most is done ambulatory, so travelling on site, and sometimes the trips can take up nearly the entire day. However, it is rewarding, always.
