The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.13 Living With BRCA2: Reality of Breast Cancer Risk

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time! In this emotional and vulnerable episode, Grace opens up about discovering she carries the BRCA2 gene and the difficult decisions that come with having a high risk of Breast Cancer. After losing her mother to breast cancer at a young age, Grace recently underwent genetic testing and learned she is BRCA2 positive — meaning her chances of developing hereditary breast cancer are significantly increased. During a recent medical appointment, doctors recommended that she consider a preventative double mastectomy to lower her breast cancer risk to around 5%, along with a possible hysterectomy to reduce the risk of uterine cancer. What followed was an overwhelming flood of fear, uncertainty, and difficult questions: Should she get the surgery? Should she wait? What would recovery look like? Would she choose reconstructive surgery? How would this affect her mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually? What if she never develops cancer in the first place? Grace shares the emotional weight of facing life-changing medical decisions while also wrestling with the feeling that her entire life may need to pause during recovery. As someone passionate about growth, fitness, discipline, and becoming better every day, the thought of slowing down felt terrifying. David steps in to remind her that strength is not found only in movement, productivity, or constant progress — but in resilience, patience, faith, and character. That even during recovery, hardship, or uncertainty, she is still becoming stronger and inspiring those around her. This episode is for anyone facing fear, health battles, uncertainty, anxiety, or major life decisions. It is a conversation about family support, faith during hardship, mental strength, and finding hope in difficult seasons of life. If you or someone you love has been affected by Breast Cancer, BRCA2, hereditary cancer, or preventative surgery decisions, we hope this episode brings encouragement and comfort. 👇 Make sure to: LIKE this video SUBSCRIBE to the channel COMMENT your thoughts or experiences SHARE this episode with someone who may need it Follow us on TikTok & Instagram: @thebettereverydaypodcast #BRCA2 #BreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #PreventiveMastectomy #DoubleMastectomy #HereditaryBreastCancer #CancerJourney #WomenHealth #MentalHealth #Faith #Resilience #TheBetterEverydayPodcast #SelfImprovement #HealingJourney

The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.12 The Gap Between Knowledge and Action Pt.2

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time. In this episode, we continue last week’s powerful conversation on The Gap Between Knowledge and Action—but this time, we take it into one of the most relatable and challenging areas of life: relationships. Why is it that when tension rises, we abandon everything we know is right? Instead of communicating with patience, understanding, and love, we often fall into toxic patterns—arguing, interrupting, name-calling, and saying things we regret. In the moment, it can feel justified… even satisfying. But what follows is the weight of repair—the work of healing hearts, restoring trust, and rebuilding connection. We break down practical ways to respond differently when emotions are high, including the speaker-listener technique—a simple but powerful tool that forces us to slow down, truly listen, and make the other person feel heard before reacting. Grace also shares deeply personal experiences from marriage, where she chose intentional silence—not out of avoidance, but out of wisdom. Instead of escalating conflict, she leaned into prayer, surrender, and trusting God with the outcome. Time and time again, she saw how choosing patience over pride led to better results—and zero regret. We also confront a hard truth: Pride will always try to convince you to fight back. To defend yourself. To prove your point. To protect your feelings. But what if the real growth comes from dying to that pride? At the core of it all, we uncover the deeper issue: the fear of losing control. When we take matters into our own hands, we’re often saying, “God, I don’t trust You to handle this—I’ve got it.” In those moments, love becomes self-centered, and survival mode takes over. This doesn’t just show up in relationships—it shows up in your health journey, your career, your finances, and your biggest life decisions. Learning to trust God isn’t easy—especially when everything in you is screaming to act now. But there is nothing better than being formed in the waiting. Growth happens there. Strength is built there. Faith is proven there. If you’ve ever struggled to live out what you know is right—this episode is for you. 👇 Join the conversation: Have you ever regretted how you handled conflict? What helps you stay grounded when emotions are high? 👍 Don’t forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and SHARE if this episode impacted you 💬 Comment your thoughts—we read every single one 📲 Follow us on TikTok & Instagram: @thebettereverydaypodcast #BetterEverydayPodcast #Relationships #ConflictResolution #CommunicationSkills #FaithOverFear #EmotionalIntelligence #SelfGrowth #ChristianPodcast #MarriageAdvice #PersonalDevelopment #TrustGod #MindsetShift #HealthyRelationships #PodcastClips #FromKnowingToDoing

The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.11 The Gap Between Knowledge and Action

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time! In this powerful episode, we dive into one of the biggest struggles in personal growth: the gap between knowing and doing. S o many of us consume podcasts, read books, watch videos, and gain knowledge about how to improve our lives—but knowledge alone does not create transformation. Action does. Why do we stay stuck? Why do we know what we should do but still avoid doing it? I n this episode, we unpack the real reasons that stop people from taking action, including: • Fear • Addiction to comfort and instant gratification • Lack of clear vision • Identity conflict • Lack of self-discipline and self-dominion • Environment and outside influences • Hidden shame and guilt cycles • Pride We also get deeply personal as Grace opens up about her journey in social media, from her early YouTube days to finding major success on TikTok years later. She shares the painful question many of us ask ourselves: “What if I never stopped?” We talk through the social media slump she finds herself in now and uncover the deeper reasons behind it—fear of failure, fear of success, doubt, lack of trust in God, uncertainty about purpose, and the painful reality of wondering what happens if you give your all and it still doesn’t work. This episode gets raw, honest, and incredibly vulnerable as we peel back the layers to get to the real root of what holds us back from becoming who we’re called to be. If you’ve ever felt stuck, delayed, frustrated, or afraid to move forward—this episode is for you. This is one you do NOT want to miss. The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.10 Church & Government

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode eat a time! In this episode, we dive into a real and honest conversation about church, government, and personal responsibility. Grace opens up about her shift from identifying as Republican to becoming Independent—sharing why she no longer feels aligned and the importance of not blindly supporting any party or person. We talk about the need to regularly evaluate what—and who—we support, making sure it still aligns with our values and beliefs. Too often, people choose sides based on personal benefit or comfort, but is that really the standard we should live by? The conversation also turns to the role of the church. We unpack how many of the responsibilities the church was called to carry—serving, loving, and supporting people—have been handed over to the government. As a result, many place their hope in political leaders instead of stepping into the calling Jesus gave us. David shares a powerful reminder: yes, voting matters and doing your civic duty is important—but regardless of what happens in government, it should never stop us from doing our part. Our responsibility starts at home, within our own households, and extends into the broader church community. We hope this episode challenges you to reflect, realign, and maybe even reignite a passion to show up for others in a meaningful way. The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.9 Reshaping Past Traumas

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time. In this episode, we have an honest and vulnerable conversation about the fears that were shaped in our past—and how we’re doing everything we can to not pass them on to our kids. David opens up about his fear of damaging his relationship with his son, rooted in the lack of a strong relationship with his own father growing up. He shares how this fear gets triggered in real-time moments—especially when his son is upset with him—and how it can lead him to prioritize being liked over being the father his son truly needs. But at what point does that fear, even with good intentions, become counterproductive? We also dive into Grace’s journey with shame—how past decisions shaped her identity, and her deep desire to help her kids understand grace early in life so they don’t carry that same weight. She shares how she’s navigating that today and where she knows she still wants to grow. Grace also reflects on how losing her mother marked her life, creating a deep-rooted fear that time is limited. That fear led to anxiety, stress, and a constant urgency to “live now” because tomorrow isn’t promised. But over time, she realized that living in that mindset was actually living in fear—and that’s not how God calls us to live. Instead, we are reminded to trust Him, knowing His plans are perfect and His love is greater than any fear we face. We also explore an important question: Can fear actually be used for good? And what does it look like to bring our fears to God, confront the lies they tell us, and replace them with truth? If this episode speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you in the comments. The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.8 Aging Gracefully or Fighting It?

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time! This week, David and Grace dive into a powerful and honest conversation about aging—the thoughts, fears, and wisdom that come with it. Grace opens up about the reality of superficial aging, especially from a woman’s perspective. From wrinkles and skin changes to cellulite and stretch marks, she shares how these natural parts of life can impact confidence and often lead women to consider everything from makeup to cosmetic procedures like Botox, skin tightening, and body enhancements. Together, we explore what really drives that massive industry—and the pressure so many feel to “keep up.” David brings a different lens, challenging the role corporations and marketing play in shaping our insecurities. He speaks on how the constant portrayal of “perfect” skin and features creates an illusion—one designed to profit off fear. He reminds us that aging isn’t something we can beat—it’s something we all face. While healthy habits like staying active, avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol, and taking care of our bodies can slow the process, nothing stops time. Grace then shares a deeply personal reflection on losing her mother and grandmother at young ages. What stood out to her most wasn’t how they looked—but how confident, secure, and comfortable they were in who they were. That realization reshaped her perspective: true confidence comes from within, not from appearance. This episode is all about shifting perspective—learning to care a little less about vanity and a little more about who we are becoming. Not to neglect ourselves, but to invest our time and energy into what truly matters. If this conversation resonates with you, don’t forget to subscribe, like, comment, and share. The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep,7 Running a Marathon

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time! In this powerful episode, David and Grace share their raw, unfiltered experience running their very first marathon at the 2026 LA Marathon on March 8, 2026. David opens up about battling IT Band Syndrome (ITBS) starting December 27, 2025, and the uphill journey that followed—doctor visits, physical therapy, an MRI, and the hard truth that injuries often expose the weaknesses we’ve been avoiding. Despite trying to build mileage, he could only reach 4 pain-free miles leading into race day. Faced with multiple crossroads and every valid reason to quit, David made the decision to move forward after receiving medical clearance—knowing it would be painful, but possible. This became bigger than just a race. It became a mission to prove that even when life throws setbacks, you can still find a way to finish. As if the challenge wasn’t already enough, David also got sick just two days before the marathon and ran on little to no sleep. Race day became a test of mental, physical, and spiritual endurance. While he wasn’t able to enjoy the race the way he normally would, he stayed locked in on one goal: finish. He and Grace ran side by side for the first 15 miles—an incredible feat considering his limited training—before Grace continued strong and David pushed through by running and walking the rest of the way. Add in the unexpected heat, and it became a day filled with constant challenges, mental battles, and resilience. Grace shares her side of the journey—training consistently for weeks with a clear goal in mind. While she didn’t hit her exact target, she reflects on how proud she is of her performance, especially considering it was her first marathon and she’s been running for less than a year. She also highlights the incredible atmosphere of the race—the cheering crowds, strangers offering snacks and encouragement, the music, DJs, and the overwhelming support that made the experience unforgettable. Together, they reflect on one of the most meaningful parts of the day—seeing their kids at mile 18 and again at the finish line, made possible by Melody and Kevin. That moment became a source of deep motivation, reminding them why they started and who they’re doing it for. It reinforced their desire to lead by example and show their kids what perseverance truly looks like. This marathon was more than just a race—it was a lesson in identity, resilience, and what the human body and mind are truly capable of when pushed beyond limits. The Better Everyday Podcast | S3 Ep.6 Breaking Cycles: One Portion at a Time

Welcome back to The Better Everyday Podcast where we are unlocking our best self one episode at a time! In this special episode, we sit down with Grace’s sister Melody and her husband Kevin for an honest and powerful conversation about Melody’s journey through VSG (gastric sleeve surgery). From a very young age, Melody carried an identity that was placed on her — one that slowly became something she accepted as truth about herself. In this episode, she opens up about the mental and physical battles she faced growing up and how those struggles followed her into adulthood. Melody and Kevin also share the deeply personal journey they went through as a couple while trying for years to conceive. After much reflection, research, and difficult conversations, they came to the conclusion that gastric sleeve surgery could be the step that would help Melody regain control of her health and move closer to their dream of becoming parents. We talk through the years of attempts Melody made to lose weight on her own, the emotional toll it took, and the strain it sometimes placed on their marriage. Kevin and Melody both provide a transparent look at how a couple can navigate challenges like these — learning to communicate, support one another, and grow stronger together in the process. Now, just 107 days after surgery, Melody has lost 64 pounds — something she once believed was impossible. Even more powerful than the physical transformation is the inner one: Melody is rediscovering her confidence and choosing to fight for the identity and life that God has called her to. This episode is about more than weight loss. It’s about identity, perseverance, marriage, faith, and the courage to pursue a better life. We hope Melody’s story encourages you to take the wisdom and lessons shared in this conversation and apply them to your own journey of becoming better every day.
