Moments with MEN

Lizzie Moon

In Moments with MEN, Lizzie provides an open space for conversations with men about their experience with “expected” roles and acceptable expressions of masculinity -- and ultimately, authenticity – in our current culture. Observing, speaking with and being in relationship with men has brought a vivid awareness and compassion for the difficult place in which many find themselves at this time. Roles, definitions, expectations, labels are all changing and many feel they don’t have an outlet – other than the expected and acceptable ones – that truly give them a chance to discover and express their true authenticity. “Moments with MEN” are designed to offer a conversation, between a man and a woman, about how we’re experiencing this time, how we’ve all been limited by societal expectations and narratives, what we’d like to be allowed to change in our relationships going forward, and more!

    Moments with robert

"The trend of abandonment is starting to become a trend of recovery." I felt that deeply in my time with robert. The recovery, the remembrance, the re-emergence of sacred masculine (and feminine) principles IS happening! robert was abandoned by his parents at an early age and raised by his grandparents. That upbringing gave him a mix of gifts: good values, stability, and peace, alongside confusion and a view of the world that became overshadowed by entitlement, blame, and victimization. Then trouble arrived, as it inevitably does, and he could no longer "victim" his way out. He finally began to ask himself an important question, "How did I create this?" Little did he know that question would begin a lifelong quest for truthfulness. robert's worldview was shaped by early exposure to sacred values, spiritual practices, disciplines, and studies. Yet it has not been easily accepted in modern society or in relationships. In fact, it has been diminished or invalidated. "Some of us are keepers of deep ancient wisdom, which is substantial value. It's a substance, not a mental fiction, and attacking it and making it invalid and obsolete is an awful selection of infinite possibilities. I know a lot of men are hurt deeply by that. They are not allowed to explore it. They don't have an inviting, supported pathway to grow in that capacity, so that they can earn the ability to grant those gifts and let the world benefit from their generosity." In this rich and thoughtful conversation, you will hear a man who knows his gifts and speaks about them with clarity. You will hear an enlightening perspective on feminism, an understanding of the geopolitical influence on all of our intergender relations, and a direct discussion of the honor, values, and sacred masculine principles that I pray we are recovering.
