PRINS Is Back! New Music, Big Truck, NZ Roadshow & Tour Plans

PRINS is back for her third appearance on the podcast, and honestly, I think this might be our best catch-up yet. It's been around six months since we last sat down together, and a lot has happened. Like most artists, there have been plenty of highs, challenges, opportunities, and moments where things haven't quite gone to plan. That's part of the journey, and one of the reasons I love these conversations with PRINS so much. She's always open, honest, and willing to share what life is really like behind the music. In this episode, we look back on the last six months and talk about what's changed, what she's learned, and how her career continues to evolve. We chat about everything from the creative process and writing music through to the business side of being an independent artist in New Zealand. But what really makes this conversation exciting is what's coming next. This week marks the start of a huge new chapter, with PRINS hitting the road on a nationwide roadshow that will take her music to communities around the country. And yes, we talk about the very big truck that's about to become a pretty significant part of her life over the coming weeks! We dive into what listeners and fans can expect from the roadshow, what life looks like when you're constantly on the move, and why she's so excited to get out and connect with people face-to-face through live music. We also talk about the brand-new EP that's on the way, the stories behind some of the songs, and what this body of work means to her as an artist. Creating music is one thing, but releasing it into the world is something else entirely, and PRINS shares some great insights into that process. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a new music video in the works, more live performances around New Zealand, and a tour coming up in just a few months' time. It feels like everything is starting to come together and this conversation captures that excitement perfectly. What I love most about this episode is hearing how grounded PRINS remains despite everything that's happening. She's ambitious, hardworking, incredibly talented, and passionate about connecting with people through her music. Whether you're someone who's been following her journey from the start or this is your first introduction to her work, I think you'll enjoy getting to know the person behind the artist. We talk about:• The last six months and everything that's happened since our previous catch-up• The nationwide roadshow kicking off this week• The famous truck and life on the road• New Zealand's music industry and life as an independent artist• The upcoming EP and the stories behind the music• A new music video release• Upcoming live shows around the country• Tour plans for the months ahead• The lessons, challenges and highlights from the journey so far As always, a huge thank you to everyone who listens, watches, shares, comments, and supports the podcast. It genuinely means a lot. If you enjoy this episode, make sure you follow the podcast and share it with someone who loves discovering great New Zealand music and hearing the stories behind the artists creating it. You can follow PRINS on her social channels to keep up with tour dates, roadshow locations, new music releases, and everything else she has planned over the coming months. Thanks for listening and enjoy the conversation. #PRINS #NZMusic #NewZealandMusic #SingerSongwriter #IndependentArtist #AotearoaMusic #MusicPodcast #Roadshow #TourLife #NewEP #LiveMusic #KiwiMusic #EmergingArtist #MusicInterview #Podcast

From Architect to Artist: Ellie Compton on Trusting Your Creative Calling

In this episode of Golden Glimmers, I sit down with Christchurch-based artist and creative powerhouse Ellie Compton — founder of Maker of Chaos — whose bold lines and large-scale works are as captivating as her career journey. Ellie originally studied architecture, but over time realised that her true passion lived in the world of visual art — outside the traditional lines. She made the brave leap into full-time artistry and hasn’t looked back. Her signature monochrome style can now be found across walls, surfboards, sculptures, prints, and even hotel rooms. We talk about: Her transition from the structured world of architecture into the fluid, expressive world of art Learning to back herself creatively and professionally The story behind her work at the QT Hotel in Wellington, where she was one of 25 artists chosen to transform an entire hotel room into an art installation Collaborating with brands like Ballantynes and Dark Hampton The power of saying yes to opportunity (and the importance of asking for what you want) Building a creative business in New Zealand, staying true to your identity, and embracing community over competition What stood out most about this kōrero was Ellie’s quiet confidence and honest reflection on the journey — the setbacks, the wins, and the process of becoming who she is today, both as an artist and a businesswoman. Whether you’re a creative yourself, navigating a pivot, or just love hearing stories of people trusting their gut and carving their own path — this episode is for you. About Ellie: Ellie is the founder of Maker of Chaos, a brand and visual identity that celebrates her love of line-based art, storytelling, and exploring space in bold and expressive ways. She’s known for her black-and-white palette, intricate yet fluid linework, and the ability to make everyday surfaces feel magical. Her work has featured on large-scale murals, high-end fashion collaborations, and public installations — but it all started with the simple decision to show up for her own creativity.
