In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego stood for truth in a culture, and against a government that was hostile to their values. They were willing to go into the fire if necessary.  God didn't spare them the FROM the furnace but He was with them IN the fire. In today's culture, standing for truth may be challenging. The world around us is hostile to the Word of God and to biblical values. But we are called to be salt and light. (Matthew 5: 13-16) God has placed us at this time in history on purpose and for a purpose.  Join us as we get better equipped to address civics and culture from a biblical worldview.

Citizens of Two Kingdoms w/ Micah Hudak

This week, Debi is joined by her oldest daughter, Micah Hudak. Micah teaches government and history at Ignite Homeschool Ministries. Micah and Debi talk about Christians' role in government. Should we be compliant with or rebellious to an unrighteous  government? Micah and Debi use two examples from the Bible to talk about our relationship to government.  They discuss Daniel and Paul and the ways in which both stood up against immoral governments. In today's government, where is the line between our faith and our citizenship? If you have not already, be sure to vote! This election is crucial for faith, school choice and freedom.  https://my.arizona.vote To learn more about Ignite Homeschool Ministries visithttps://www.ignitehm.org/ To get connected with Dream City Civics visit https://www.dreamcitychurch.us/civics To Find out more about Dream City Church visit  https://dreamcitychrch.us Please follow Into the Fire podcast on your favorite podcast platform, give us a 5-star rating and leave a review.

Vote to Keep AZ Free w/ Greg Blackie

This week, Debi is joined by Greg Blackie, Deputy Director of Policy at AZ Free Enterprise Club. Greg explains how propositions get on your ballot and how the number tells you what type of initiative it is.  There are 8 statewide initiatives on your November ballot. Greg briefly explains what each of them will do if passed.  Greg explains two of the propositions in greater detail. These are both measures that AZ Free Enterprise Club endorses.  The first is Prop141, Protecting our Freedom to Move. This would prohibit the government from tracking and taxing the miles we drive in our own vehicles. Efforts are underway in many states to control our freedom to drive. This would proactively stop this from happening in AZ. Greg recommends voting yes on this. The second is Prop 144, Fast, Accurate, Secure, Transparent Election Results.  This initiative would ensure that only citizens vote in our elections, that voter id is required for all voting methods, prohibit foreign funding of our elections and create a mechanism to make ballot tabulation happen more quickly.   This is also a recommended yes vote. Finally, they talk about why this election is critical to keeping AZ Free and prosperous. This election is almost entirely Arizona based and this election will determine the future of school choice, affordability and our personal freedoms in Arizona. Please vote to keep AZ free! Your Vote Matters w/ Kim Miller

This week, Debi is joined by Kim Miller, founder and president of America's Women and America's Women of Action Debi and Kim talk about why local civic action and local elections are so very important.  This coming midterm election will determine the direction that Arizona takes for better or for worse in many areas that affect our families. Kim and Debi talk about why Christians often do not vote and what we can do to change that. They also discuss the power that female voters have and why it is so important for Christian women to be informed and engaged so that radical voices are not the only ones speaking, and voting on behalf of women. Finally, they discuss some practical ways that you can not only get informed and vote, but to multiply your voice by helping your sphere of influence vote as well.  Please join America's Women and Dream City Civics at "What's on Your Ballot?" on October 5th at Dream City Church. Ballot Battles w/ Jenna Bentley

This week, Debi is joined by Jenna Bentley, Director of Government Affairs at Goldwater Institute Jenna and Debi discuss the issue of ballot initiatives. Jenna explains the ways in which an initiative can find its way on your ballot and explains why Arizona law is different than other states. They talk about why our law opens the door to out-of-state groups to spend millions to attempt to change our state laws. They discuss the legal challenges Goldwater brought against Prop 212, the overreaching anti-ESA ballot initiative. It was removed from the November ballot due to duplicate and illegally obtained signatures. Jenna also explains Prop142, the anti-DEI ballot initiative and Prop 320, which would require school districts to spend 60% of their funding directly in the classroom. Debi and Jenna discuss why they support both of these measures. Defending Truth in the Courts w/ Jake Warner

This week, Debi is joined by Jake Warner, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom Jake and Debi discuss recent rulings from the Supreme Court that upheld states' rights to define sex according to biology and to limit female sports teams to females only.  They discuss the cases in terms of Title IX and in terms of the 14th amendment, including potential broader implications that could protect other nonprofits like homeless shelters.  They also discuss that these rulings allow states to pass these types of laws but don't require them to protect girls' sports. That is one of the next battlegrounds. They also discuss so called "conversion therapy" bans and how they dangerously limit counselors' ability to counsel according to their own conscience and according to client's wishes. For example, these types of laws allow counselors to push minors toward dangerous drugs, hormones and surgeries in an attempt to change genders but make it illegal for them to help minors become comfortable with their biology.
