Aaron Poochigian on The Unexpected Healing Power of Central Park

Send us Fan Mail True healing happens when we open ourselves to the beauty around us—the beauty in the silence, in the trees, in the animals, in poetry, and through the beauty of learning to be present with ourselves again. In this conversation, you’ll learn tools for addiction recovery and for a creativity boost. You’ll also hear how profoundly natural beauty can be to restore the human spirit. My guest, Aaron Poochigian, is a poet, classics scholar, translator, and author whose life and work beautifully bridge literature, philosophy, and the healing power of nature. Aaron has translated some of the world’s most timeless voices, including Sappho and Marcus Aurelius, and his writing has appeared in publications such as *The Financial Times*, *The New York Review of Books*, and *Poetry Magazine*. But beyond his academic and literary accomplishments, Aaron’s personal journey is one of transformation. A former cocaine addict, Aaron found himself, like many during the pandemic, craving peace, inspiration, and reconnection after a season of isolation. And unexpectedly, he found it in Central Park. What began as a simple contemplation of this iconic urban sanctuary became a way to reconnect with life itself.  This experience inspired his beautiful new book, *Four Walks in Central Park*, a unique guidebook written entirely in verse. This episode is a reminder that creativity is sparked by activating our senses during idle time. Holly Copeland in Rewilding the Soul: Healing Through Nature, Presence & Awareness

Send us Fan Mail There comes a moment in many people’s healing journey when they realize that wellness is not only about fixing symptoms… but about remembering who we truly are beneath the noise, the conditioning, and the disconnection from ourselves and from nature. In this conversation, we explore what it means to “rewild” ourselves from the inside out, how disconnection from nature mirrors disconnection from self, and why healing may be less about becoming someone new… and more about returning home to who we’ve always been. Today’s guest, Holly Copeland, has devoted her life to guiding people back to that remembrance. She is the creator of the Inner Rewilding process — a beautiful integration of science, spirituality, somatic healing, and deep connection with the natural world. A former ecologist turned healing practitioner, she now helps spiritual seekers, visionaries, and earth-conscious leaders reconnect with what she calls the “wild intelligence” within. Rooted in modern non-dual awareness and the wisdom of the body, Holly’s work weaves together frequency, ceremony, meditation, breathwork, subtle energy healing, and presence to create profound spaces for healing and transformation. Holly also shares insights from her newly released book, Inner Rewilding: A Scientist's Journey into Being. This episode is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and remember the wisdom already living within you. Dr. Bill Dean in Healing Through Balance: An Ayurvedic Perspective

Send us Fan Mail What happens when a highly trained surgeon who spent decades inside conventional medicine… decides to follow a deeper calling into ancient healing wisdom? This conversation will shake your knowledge about food. It will give you the cue to explore health from a deeper perspective. You will learn about the mind-body connection and why, when humans gather with intention and goodwill, we can positively influence the collective consciousness. My guest, Dr. Bill Dean, is a former allopathic urologic surgeon who retired from western medicine to devote his life fully to Ayurveda, the ancient traditional system of medicine rooted in energy balance, which, translating from Sanskrit, means the science of life.  Dr. Dean’s journey into Ayurveda began in the 1990s through his studies with the Chopra organization, eventually leading him to integrate Ayurvedic principles into his medical practice and, later, to earn a certification as an Ayurvedic doctor. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Dean in person at the Printers Row Lit Fest in Chicago last year, where he was promoting his newest book, Foods Heal. He carries a bright, joyful presence that instantly put me at ease. This conversation invites us to remember that we do have agency over our health and that healing is not only personal—it ripples to the collective. CONNECT WITH DR. Blair Sorrel in How Overparenting Shapes Identity, Independence, and Mental Health

Send us Fan Mail What if setting high expectations for our children… is actually what holds them back? In this conversation, we explore how parenting shapes a child’s inner world, the fine line between support and overprotection, and the importance of compassion when it comes to mental health and human differences. Today’s guest, Blair Sorrel, offers a perspective that is both deeply personal and powerfully confronting. Blair is the author of A Schizoid at Smith: How Overparenting Leads to Underachieving, a memoir that sheds light on the long-term impact of overparenting, childhood trauma, and the complexities of living with schizoid personality traits. Her story is not just one of struggle—it’s one of resilience. Despite the challenges she faced, Blair graduated from Smith College and built a diverse professional path. This is an episode that invites reflection—on how we raise our children, how we relate to vulnerability, and how awareness can lead to more conscious, humane choices.  Her memoir is A Schizoid at Smith: How Overparenting Leads to Underachieving.  CONNECT WITH BLAIR: WEBSITE: rockingtributes.com.  Download my FREE eBook: A Weekend of Feeling Great Schedule a FREE Discovery call  Sign up for my free weekly newsletter: HERE Buy my book Living Your Best Life in College Take the 2-minute Wellness Quiz If you enjoyed this episode, please FOLLOW, RATE, REVIEW & SHARE!!  Rates and reviews help the message get to more people! Rachel Krentzman in When the Body Holds the Story: A Journey Through Trauma & Healing

Send us Fan Mail In this conversation, we explore religion, trauma, and how we can heal—not by fixing ourselves, but by learning to be with what is. Born into an Orthodox Jewish family in Montreal, Rachel Krentzman’s early life was shaped by both devotion and deep disruption. The trauma of her rabbi father’s arrest led her to question her beliefs, to shed old layers, and ultimately to rediscover herself through the body. Living with scoliosis and spinal injuries herself, Rachel developed a powerful, integrative approach that blends HAKOMI, a somatic psychotherapy, physical therapy, and yoga, supporting hundreds of people around the world in reconnecting with their bodies and rewriting their stories. She is also the author of several books, including Scoliosis, Yoga Therapy and the Art of Letting Go, and in her latest memoir, As Is, she shares her personal path of healing the past through yoga.
