Involution with Veronica

Veronica Penacho

Involution with Veronica is a space to think aloud about the questions shaping our understanding of healing, identity, relationship, attention, and change. We live in a culture saturated with easy answers: Change your mindset. Let go. Heal the wound. While these phrases can sometimes offer helpful language, they often arrive before we have understood our actual experience. Involution creates room to stay with the question a little longer… to trace assumptions, examine the words we use, and bring spiritual teachings into grounded conversation with psychology, philosophy, and lived experience. Why “Involution”? Involution refers to the inward movement of attention. Not as a withdrawal from the world, and not as another invitation to turn ourselves into a project to fix, but as a willingness to look carefully at what we bring into our participation with life. Explore Further Listen here or visit veronicapenacho.com for complete episode notes, written reflections, accompanying practices, and ways to continue the inquiry through Gathering Pieces of You, my framework and growing collection of conscious practices. About the Host Veronica Penacho is a conscious practice teacher exploring what it means to be human and how we can participate in life more consciously. Her work brings spiritual teachings into grounded conversation with philosophy, psychology, lived experience, and the patterns that shape our individual and collective lives.

    A New Beginning Needs Ground

When we talk about a new moon, the invitation is almost always to plant a seed, set an intention, or imagine what we want to bring into form. But do we ever actually begin from nothing? Or do we begin within conditions already shaped by what we’ve practiced, where we’ve placed our attention, and what we are still carrying? In this reflection, I explore the Virgo New Moon not as a blank slate, but as a conscious practice for examining the soil we are standing in. Entering this lunation in the aftermath of the Pisces lunar eclipse, we look at what an intention requires when it encounters lived reality... our bodies, our time, our relationships, our responsibilities, and our limits. In this episode, we explore: Why refinement isn't about fixing what's “wrong” with you Earlier points in the cycle (from April through June and late August) and what experience may now allow us to see differently How intention changes when it encounters the actual conditions of our lives Choosing one condition in your calendar, space, or attention to tend during this cycleIf you're questioning your direction, reconsidering something you once felt certain about, or finding that an earlier intention no longer fits quite as you imagined, I hope this reflection offers you somewhere supportive to land. How Images Teach Us What to See

Transforming the Established Self What happens when the image stops simply representing reality and begins teaching us what reality is supposed to look like? In this reflection, Veronica brings the work of French philosopher and cultural theorist Jean Baudrillard's ideas of simulation, simulacra, and hyperreality into conversation with attention, perception, conditioning, identity, and conscious participation.  This reflection explores: how representations can participate in training perception, how standards teach attention where to look, and how repeated attention gives significance to particular features, beliefs, identities, and ways of seeing.Maybe the question isn't only... what am I seeing? Maybe it's... what taught me to see it this way? *** If you're a visual learner: the video includes several diagrams I created to help map some of the more conceptual parts of this conversation. The audio stands on its own, but you may find the visual version especially helpful. Play Video Here Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! When Life Interrupts Who You Learned to Be

Sometimes life doesn't create the pattern. It interrupts it long enough for us to see what had already become familiar. In this reflection, I explore what happens when an experience changes the conditions through which we have learned to know ourselves, and identity not as something wrong that needs to be transcended, but as something continually taking form through memory, relationship, attention, value, responsibility, and repeated practice.  REFLECTION NOTES: https://veronicapenacho.com/involution-with-veronica/when-life-interrupts-who-you-learned-to-be  Connect with Veronica - Send her a message! The Hidden Patterns That Shape Our Lives

Every experience leaves a trace, not just as a memory or a story, but as a subtle influence in the way we experience life.   In this episode, we explore the meaning of samskāra… the impressions formed through repeated movements of thought, action, attention, and relationship.    Through the lens of yoga, we explore how these impressions shape our experiences, how our perception is organized, and how we encounter the world. This episode is for anyone interested in self-inquiry, yoga philosophy, meditation, or the deeper patterns that influence how we perceive, respond, and relate to life.
