Designed For More | DESIGN | Week 5

As we close the DESIGN series, we wrap up our journey of discovering the good works God created each of us to do by meditating on 1 Corinthians 15:58: Your Labor in the Lord Is Not in Vain. Because Jesus' resurrection means what we do today matters to God's future, Paul calls us to give ourselves fully to the Lord's work, even when it feels futile and frustrating. God can use even our small, interrupted, unfinished efforts, and that your life matters for eternity. Discussion Questions: At the start of the message, Sisyphus was used as a picture of work that feels endless and fruitless. Where in your life right now (work, school, home, church, family) do you feel a little like Sisyphus? After 57 verses about the resurrection, Paul could have said "Therefore, relax, because Jesus wins." Instead he says "Therefore, give yourselves fully to the Lord's work." Why do you think he draws that conclusion? How does it change the way you see your everyday life to know that what you do now matters to God's future?Do you resonate with either of these situations: those who need to take their lives a little more seriously, and those who are weary and need encouragement to keep going. Which one are you right now, and what do you need to hear most?In "Leaf by Niggle," Niggle thought he had accomplished only one leaf, but in the new creation he found the whole tree. What does that story change about how you see your own unfinished, interrupted, or seemingly small efforts? Is it freeing to remember that God builds the Kingdom and we are part of his process?Think of a time you served, prayed, or invested in someone without seeing results. How did you handle the discouragement, and how could this group encourage you or each other to keep going? Close by praying the prayer from this week: “Heavenly Father, I feel stuck. I know that I have been created in Christ Jesus on purpose, and for a purpose. Help me to dream again."

Designed To Make A Difference | DESIGN | Week 4

Every follower of Jesus has a Spiritual Gift — but discovering it isn’t the finish line. In this message from our DESIGN series, Pastor Brett unpacks what Spiritual Gifts actually are, how they’re different from natural talent and learned skill, and why the real goal isn’t just to discover your gift — it’s to discover it, develop it, and deploy it. Whether you’ve taken a spiritual gifts assessment before or have never thought about it, this message will help you understand what the Bible actually says about your design — and why God gave you exactly what you have. Discussion Questions: Growing up, what’s something you were just naturally good at, without ever being taught?Brett distinguished a Spiritual Gift, a natural talent, and a learned skill. Can you name an example of each in your own life?“Don’t mistake visibility for value.” Where have you seen a behind-the-scenes gift go unnoticed, or a visible gift get resented, in a church or team you’ve been part of?Have you ever taken a spiritual gifts assessment? What did it say — and did anything actually change afterward, or did it just sit there?“You don’t fully discover your gifts by taking a test. You discover them by developing them.” Where are you stuck at discovery and haven’t moved to development?Where’s one specific place — in the church, or outside it, at work, at home, in your neighborhood — you could take a small risk this week to use your gift?Who’s one person who could help you develop a gift, the way community sharpened Brett’s? Will you reach out to them this week?

Purpose In The Serving | DESIGN | Week 2

What if the answer to "what's my purpose?" isn't complicated, it's just one word: serve? In this message, we unpack the Hebrew word Avad, which means to serve, but both "to tend" and "to toil," and we'll discover why the very same act of service can either bring life or burn you out. Through the tension between servanthood and servility, "I get to" versus "I have to," we explore how the condition of your heart, not the size of your task, determines whether you're walking in purpose or just going through the motions. This isn't a call to do more. It's an invitation to check the motive behind the mission, because burnout isn't proof you served too much, it might be proof you served without love for too long. Discussion Questions: Pastor Chad shared how his own "yes" to serving on the light board eventually led him into his teaching gift. Think about your own story: was there a place you started serving that ended up shaping who you are today? What was it, and what did you learn from saying yes? Before this weekend, when you heard the word "serve," what came to mind? Has your definition of serving mostly lived inside the walls of the church, or have you seen it show up in your job, your home, your relationships? What would change if you saw all of it as "Avad"?The same task can be tending one day and toiling the next: helping your kids with homework, finishing a work project, showing up to serve on Sunday. Can you think of a specific place in your life right now where you feel like you're toiling instead of tending? What do you think is underneath that?Servility says "I have to." Servanthood says "I get to." Be honest: where in your life right now are you serving out of obligation, pressure, or a need for approval rather than love? What would it look like to bring that specific area to God this week instead of just pushing through it?Pastor Chad said, "Serving didn't just reveal my design, it revealed my heart." Is there a season or moment of burnout, resentment, or frustration in your own life that, looking back, might have actually been God trying to show you something about your heart rather than just something about your schedule? What do you think He was trying to show you, and are you willing to let this group into that story?

Anchored Through Change | Pastor Chad Reis

Everything changes. Buildings, seasons, styles, and even the people around us. So what do we hold onto when God is the one leading us into something new? As C4 Church steps into its anniversary weekend, Pastor Chad takes us through the seasons of our church and then straight into Hebrews 13, where a seasoned church was caught between two dangers: the pull to retreat into the familiar past, and the quiet drift away from what they'd been given. There's a third way: not frozen, not drifting, but anchored. This message walks through why our anchor holds, where that anchor is actually tied, and what it sets a church free to do. An anchor was never meant to keep a ship in the harbor. It's what keeps you from being lost when you finally leave it. We don't anchor to a season. We anchor to a Savior. Discussion Questions: Pastor Chad opened with a trip back through the seasons of our church. What was your own "golden age" season, the one you'd go back to if you could? What made it so good? You can share about your personal life or church life. The message made the point that Jesus is unchanging not because He's frozen but because He's finished the work. The priests stood because the work was never done. Jesus sat down. What difference does a seated Savior make in something you're still working hard to earn or prove?Drift is quiet. Nobody feels themselves drifting; you only notice after you've already moved. Look back over the last year of your life. Is there an area where you've drifted without ever deciding to move? Hebrews 6 says the anchor doesn't drop to the seafloor, it runs upward, into the throne room where Jesus already is. Be honest with each other: what are you actually anchored to right now? A season, a role, a relationship, a version of yourself you're afraid to lose? What would it cost you if that thing changed?Humble, hungry, healthy, smart, supernatural. If those five are the rope, which strand is strongest in your life right now and which one is fraying? Name one thing you'll do this week to strengthen the thin one, and name the person in this room who gets to ask you about it.
