93 | Your Child Is Scared? Point Them to God: Homeschool Lesson and Preschool Activities That Teach Kids God Carries Them Through

Does your child run straight to you the second they get scared? Want to point that instinct toward God, without telling them their fear isn't real? Wondering how to teach a preschooler that God is with them even when the scary thing doesn't go away? EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS This week's preschool activity teaches your child that when we're scared, we go to God, and He carries us through. We'll look at Psalm 56:3 and why David wrote "when I am afraid," not "if," plus Deuteronomy 1:31 and Isaiah 46:4, where God promises to carry His people. I share a sweaty, very lost corn maze story with my boys, then walk you through Fear and Faith Hands, the Carry Me Through learning game, and a second family prayer your child writes in their own words. 92 | Stop Saying "There's Nothing to Be Scared Of": Homeschool Preschool Activities and a Family Prayer for When Your Child Is Afraid

Does your child come to you scared of the dark, the dog down the street, or a sound you can't even hear? Want something better to say than "There's nothing to be scared of"? Wondering how to teach a preschooler what to do with fear, not just that they shouldn't feel it? EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS These three short preschool activities teach your child that being scared isn't the problem; knowing where to take it is. I share what happened when my son refused a toddler roller coaster, then we look at Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane and why even He brought His fear straight to God. You'll walk away knowing exactly what to say, what to do and what to ask, including the Fear and Faith Hands, the Brave Box learning game, and how to help your child write their first family prayer in their own words. 91 | Faith Over Fear Doesn't Mean "Don't Be Scared": How to Teach Your Preschooler Where to Take Their Fear

Does your preschooler run, cry or shut down when they're scared, no matter how much you reassure them? Want to teach them faith over fear without teaching them to hide what they feel? Worried that "do not be afraid" sounds a lot like "you're not allowed to be afraid"? EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS Faith over fear doesn't mean your preschooler should never feel scared, and in this episode I'll show you how to teach it before they learn it the wrong way. We'll look at Psalm 56:3, why even Jesus felt afraid (Hebrews 4:15), and the simple BAM family prayer you can use the next time your child is scared: Be Honest, Ask, Magnify. By the end, you'll understand faith over fear well enough to teach it to your kids this month with the free Faith Over Fear lesson plan. 89 | Never Be Too Busy to Take It to God: The Difference Between Emotional Regulation and Suppressing It

Do you tell yourself you're regulating your emotions when honestly, you're just stuffing them down and moving on? Have you said "I need to take this to God" and then never actually made the time to do it? What if the line between handling it and burying it is thinner than you think? There's a fine line between emotional suppression and emotional regulation, and it is easy to cross without noticing. In this episode, Ash gets honest about falling back over that line herself. She thought she was practicing biblical emotional regulation, and she was actually living in suppression. She kept telling her husband she needed to take it to God in prayer, and then never made the time to do it. When he pointed that out, she was not exactly thrilled with him. It was humbling, and it's exactly why she's sharing it. She is not teaching this from a place of having it perfected, she needs the reminder too, because at the end of the day we are all sinful by nature. If you've been holding it together on the outside while nothing underneath ever gets brought to God, this is the distinction worth catching before it catches you. 88 | You're Waiting for a Burning Bush and God Is Whispering: The Patience It Takes to Hear God

Have you been waiting for your burning bush moment, the big undeniable sign, and heard nothing at all? Do you feel weary and behind, like everyone else can hear God and something must be wrong with you? What if you're not unworthy, and not too late; you just haven't built the skill yet? In this episode, Ash gets honest about what it takes to actually hear God when you've been straining for something dramatic. Hearing Him is a skill, and like any skill it gets built through practice, which is exactly what the CASTLE prayer framework is for at one hour a week. But there's a second piece most of us skip: if you spent years blaming God for everything that went wrong, trust between you got broken, and trust doesn't rebuild through wishing. It rebuilds the way it does in any relationship, through actual conversation. And conversations go both ways. You have to listen. Have patience with yourself, slow down long enough to hear Him, and stop treating the silence as evidence that you're doing it wrong. 87 | Stop Asking Everyone But God! The Spiritual Healing in Knowing God's Character

Have you ever taken a vote among friends about what God is really like, instead of just asking Him yourself? Do you find yourself piecing together your faith from other people's opinions, secretly wondering if any of them actually have it right? Tired of hearing ten different answers to "is God good" and still not knowing what you actually believe? In this episode, I get honest about a season when I was struggling with my faith and started polling people for their opinions on God, basically taking a consensus instead of going to the source. Thankfully I learned discernment along the way, but here's the shift: the best place to learn who God is, is from God Himself. I walk through a simple practice, opening your Bible, going to the index, and looking up His characteristics, as the real way to answer "is God good," because you'll know Him from Him, not from everyone else's take. Knowing His character for yourself is where the spiritual healing starts. This episode is for the weary mom who's been collecting other people's opinions about God instead of trusting her own relationship with Him. We all have different relationships with God, because we're all different people, and that's exactly as it should be. We should talk about God every chance we get, we just have to be careful whose opinions we actually let shape what we believe, because a lot of people get God wrong. Practice mentioned in this episode: Open your Bible, go to the index, and look up God's characteristics, a simple way to know His character straight from Him.
