CIFF 2026 | Relax, Open Your Eyes Director David Ehrenreich | S3E11

What happens when the desire to defeat death becomes a reason to believe in the future? In this episode of Dripping Creativity, Chris Corvan sits down with filmmaker David Ehrenreich, director of Relax, Open Your Eyes, ahead of its world premiere at the 2026 Calgary International Film Festival. The documentary follows Calgary’s Carrie Radomski and her journey into the world of cryonics, including her efforts to help build The Futurist Club in Calgary. But beneath the preservation technology, science, and almost science-fiction premise is something much more human: family, identity, mortality, sacrifice, community, and the question of whether the future is something worth believing in. David talks about his path from photography and editing into filmmaking, spending years following a story without knowing exactly where it would lead, and why he deliberately resisted turning the world of cryonics into something sensational or exploitative. Chris and David also dig into the ordinary moments behind extraordinary beliefs, building genuine trust with documentary subjects, the funding process, surviving rejection, protecting a creative vision, and why David ultimately sees Relax, Open Your Eyes as a film about believing in people as much as believing in the future. Then David faces the Dripping Creativity rapid fire: creative freedom or money, truth or trust, legacy or waking up 500 years from now, and the films he wishes he could experience again for the first time. CIFF 2026 | Meet Jen Walden, director of LUMI | S3E8

What happens when a visual artist transitions to filmmaking in the heart of the Arctic? In this episode of Dripping Creativity, host Chris Corvan sits down with Jen Walden, a filmmaker, screenwriter, and visual artist based in Yellowknife. Jen shares her journey from painting in Florence to creating her latest feature film, Lumi, a science fiction adventure exploring connection, resilience, and the human experience in a post-apocalyptic Arctic landscape. We dig into the unique challenges of filmmaking in the Northwest Territories, the tight-knit community of northern artists supporting one another, and the ways the Arctic landscape shapes Jen's storytelling. Jen also takes us inside the evolution of Lumi, which began as a short film before growing into a feature centred on a young girl and her AI companion. We talk about crafting scenes from images and emotion, balancing practical effects with CGI, and capturing the Arctic on screen without losing the human story at its centre. Lumi has its Alberta premiere at the Calgary International Film Festival on September 27 at 8:30 PM at Globe Cinema. CIFF 2026: Wendy Hill-Tout on WWW: The Women’s Group & Growing Old Loudly | S3E7

What happens when a Wednesday happy hour becomes something much bigger? Calgary filmmaker Wendy Hill-Tout joins Chris Corvan to talk about her new documentary WWW: THE WOMEN’S GROUP, following a group of senior women whose weekly gatherings in Kensington have become a space for friendship, laughter, grief, dating, resilience, and refusing to quietly disappear with age. Wendy talks about building trust while filming real people, why documentaries do not need famous subjects to matter, balancing heartbreak with humour, keeping the crew deliberately small, finding structure inside unscripted lives, and why she wanted to portray the women compassionately rather than manufacture reality-TV conflict. They also get into Calgary's independent film community, the importance of festivals like CIFF, the film's deeply appropriate premiere at The Plaza, and Wendy casually reveals that another WWW adventure is already beginning.
