Right on Rangers LIVE!

Austin Beckman

Right on Rangers is where Rangers fans ride the season in real time. The LIVE shows are the heartbeat. Big wins, ugly losses, bullpen chaos, breakout heaters, trade rumors, roster debates, and the takes that come with actually caring about this team. Sometimes those takes get hot. That’s part of watching 162 with people who are invested. But the reaction still has receipts. We use stats, film, history, roster context, and what’s happening on the field to figure out what the game actually revealed. Between LIVE shows, we go deeper on the players, decisions, stories, and moments shaping Texas baseball. Rangers first, always. When the calendar turns, the Cowboys, Longhorns, Mavericks, and the biggest Texas sports stories get their run too. If you want sterile box-score recaps, this probably isn’t your show. If you want passionate Rangers talk with actual baseball underneath it, welcome in.

Four Gold Glove Finalists: Who Fixes the Rangers' Bats?

Four Rangers are Gold Glove finalists, but Texas still has difficult questions about developing hitters and turning talent into runs. Austin examines the cases for Ezequiel Duran, Evan Carter, Wyatt Langford and Jacob deGrom before explaining why he would move on from hitting coach Justin Viele. The conversation moves to Josh Jung versus Duran, possible fits such as Luis Arráez and Ian Happ, and the catching situation for 2027. Houston won the AL West and still changed its baseball leadership, raising a larger accountability question. The show closes with Jacob Latz, bullpen construction, the idea of Kumar Rocker in relief, and a look at October baseball. On-air clarifications: Wyatt Langford ranked third, rather than second, in Statcast's 2026 outfielder jump leaderboard. Texas ranked 25th in runs but tied for eighth in wRC+, so describing its offense as bottom-five in both seasons was too broad. Danny Jansen had a strong September, but Carter Jensen won the official AL Player of the Month award. The closing MacKenzie Gore rebound reference concerns 2027, not 2026. Texas Gives Oklahoma 14 Points, Loses Red River

Texas outgained Oklahoma 382-238 and still lost the Red River Rivalry, 27-24. The Sooners got 14 points from a blocked punt and Peyton Bowen's pick-six. Arch Manning threw three touchdowns and two interceptions, and the Longhorns finished 3-for-14 on third down. Austin gets into the officiating calls that frustrated Texas fans, why he won't make excuses for the loss, and how much responsibility belongs to Arch and Steve Sarkisian. The fourth-and-two decision gets a close look, along with an offense too dependent on explosive plays. Texas' defense deserved better. Florida is next, and there are plenty of things to clean up before Saturday. On-air corrections: Oklahoma finished with 238 total offensive yards, and Texas scored seven points in the fourth quarter (Oklahoma scored 17). John Mateer's six-yard figure was yards per attempt, not per completion. The missed 53-yard field goal gave OU the ball at its own 35, the same starting spot as an unsuccessful fourth-and-two without a gain. Dallas next plays Sunday, October 18, against Green Bay, not Monday. Who Still Fits on the Rangers' 2027 Roster?

The Rangers' 2027 roster reset is starting to look like a series of uncomfortable decisions. Austin weighs Joc Pederson's option, Jake Burger's future, the lineup's platoon problem, and whether Ezequiel Duran should stay a superutility player. He also digs into Evan Carter, Wyatt Langford, Sebastian Walcott, the limits on moving established veterans, and how $113 million in scheduled salaries for four players shapes the choices ahead. Then it's back to Skip Schumaker. After publishing his Year 1 evaluation, Austin explains what needs to improve in Year 2, including baserunning, fundamentals and young-player development. The show closes with postseason baseball and upcoming roster decisions. On-air clarifications: Burger's 2026 OPS vs. lefties was .892, not approximately 1.000. Junis' cited Statcast percentiles were from 2026. Walcott is not required to be added to Texas' 40-man roster this winter for Rule 5 protection.
