Embracing Creativity, Non-Linear Thinking and Doing Business Your Way, with Heather Ebanks

Embracing Creativity, Non-Linear Thinking and Doing Business Your Way, with Heather Ebanks Season 11, Episode 90: Show Up and Be Heard Today's episode of the podcast is an interview with Heather Ebanks, graphic designer and host of the Creatively Eccentric podcast. In this conversation, Heather and I chat about what it really means to embrace creativity, challenge traditional definitions of success, and stop trying to force ourselves into business models that don't fit. We explore how creativity isn't just about being artistic, why some of our biggest strengths can come from thinking differently, and how stepping away from the noise can often be the key to finding clarity. We also dive into imposter syndrome, failure, community, and the importance of trusting yourself instead of constantly looking outside of yourself for answers. BOSS THINGS YOU'LL LEARN IF YOU TUNE IN: Practical ways to quiet the noise, overcome overwhelm, and reconnect with your ideasWhy failure isn't something to fear and how to reframe it as part of the processWhy creativity is so much bigger than art, design, or being "naturally creative" If you enjoyed this episode or found it useful, then I would really appreciate if you could take just a few minutes to give it a review on whatever platform you are listening on - because every one I get really does make me do a little squeal and a happy dance! ABOUT HEATHER: Heather Ebanks is a Graphic Designer and the host of the Creatively Eccentric Podcast—a platform for bold voices, messy journeys, and zero apologies. She explores what happens when creatives stop trying to fit into systems that were never designed for them and start defining success on their own terms. Through raw, reflective conversations, Heather amplifies unconventional and underrepresented creators—diving into the realities of rejection, reinvention, and building a creative life that doesn’t follow the rules. Her work supports women who feel overwhelmed, scattered, or “too much,” helping them realise those very traits are their advantage. At its core, Creatively Eccentric is about embracing uniqueness, challenging expectations, and proving that there is no single way to be a creative—or to succeed. How one tiny admin mistake turned into a minor business breakdown

How one tiny admin mistake turned into a minor business breakdown Season 11, Episode 87: Show Up and Be Heard Today’s episode of the podcast is a solo episode all about how one tiny admin mistake turned into a minor business breakdown… and the lessons it taught me about overwhelm, support, AI, and running a business mostly on your own. What started as me accidentally getting locked out of Asana quickly spiralled into a stressful reminder of just how much mental load so many of us are carrying behind the scenes in business. In this episode, I’m sharing the full story of what happened, why trying to solve it through AI support left me feeling even more overwhelmed, and how one conversation with a real human completely shifted everything. I’m also talking about the importance of building businesses that support us back, not just relying on ourselves to hold everything together all the time, as well as sharing some practical ways to make life easier for future you, and avoid unnecessary stress when it comes to the systems and platforms we rely on every day. BOSS THINGS YOU'LL LEARN IF YOU TUNE IN: Why overwhelm in business is often about mental load, not just workloadThe difference between AI support and human support when things go wrongSimple practical things you can do to better protect and support your business behind the scenes If you enjoyed this episode or found it useful, then I would really appreciate if you could take just a few minutes to give it a review on whatever platform you are listening on - because every one I get really does make me do a little squeal and a happy dance! 4. How I’ve reduced overwhelm and prevented burnout in my business (with one simple shift)

How I’ve reduced overwhelm and prevented burnout in my business (with one simple shift)

How I’ve reduced overwhelm and prevented burnout in my business (with one simple shift) Season 10, Episode 84: Show Up and Be Heard In today’s episode, I’m sharing something I’ve introduced into my business recently that has genuinely been a game changer when it comes to managing overwhelm and avoiding burnout. Because if you’re anything like me, you’re not just running a business. You’re juggling life, family, responsibilities, emotions, hormones, and about a million invisible tabs open in your brain at any given time. And it can feel like you’re constantly trying to keep up, constantly trying to do your best, and still somehow feeling like you’re falling short. So this episode is for you if you’ve ever sat down to work already feeling behind. If you’ve ever tried to push through a bad day because your diary said you had to. If you’ve ever gone straight from parenting into work mode and felt like your brain just… didn’t catch up. I’m going to talk you through something I call a “life is life-ing buffer” and how it’s completely changed the way I structure my days, how I protect my energy, and how I show up in my business without burning myself out in the process. By the end of this episode, my hope is that you’ll feel a little bit lighter, a little bit less alone in how you’re feeling, and maybe inspired to find your own version of this that actually works for your business and your life. If you enjoyed this episode or found it useful, then I would really appreciate if you could take just a few minutes to give it a review on whatever platform you are listening on - because every one I get really does make me do a little squeal and a happy dance! 5. A love letter to the woman juggling and feeling it all...

A love letter to the woman juggling and feeling it all...

A love letter to the woman juggling and feeling it all... Season 10, Episode 83: Show Up and Be Heard Today’s episode is a bit of a different one. It’s a love letter to the woman who is trying to juggle everything - from running a business, to holding her family together, all whilst navigating a world that feels really really bloody heavy right now. And it was actually inspired by a morning where I really needed to hear this myself. After a hard week of advocating for myself and the people I love, holding space, and feeling like I was constantly having to push against systems that don’t make things easy, I found myself overwhelmed, emotional, and honestly questioning whether I was the problem. And I know I’m not alone in that, I am anything but, there are too many of us feeling exactly the same way, quietly wondering if we’re getting it all wrong. So if you’ve been feeling stretched, emotional, like you’re carrying too much, or like you’re somehow failing at things that matter so very deeply to you, then this episode is for you. Think of it as a reminder, a reframe, and a deep breath in the middle of everything you’ve got going on. If you enjoyed this episode or found it useful, then I would really appreciate if you could take just a few minutes to give it a review on whatever platform you are listening on - because every one I get really does make me do a little squeal and a happy dance!
