    Facing Anxiety 5 Phrases that Actually Work

    PODCAST EPISODE 5: In this episode, we share 5 phrases that were instrumental in Laura's healing journey with anxiety, PTSD, and panic. WHERE TO FIND US: ⁠https://www.becausetheworldneeds.com ALSO IN THIS EPISODE: ANXIETY USUALLY ARISES FOR THREE REASONS: 1. You’re avoiding or stuffing emotions that are trying to release out of your system. 2. You’re believing a lie. 3. You’re trying to control (or worry about) a situation that is outside of your realm of control. This is not a replacement for medical advice - and you may need to go to your family dr., or urgent care, or the emergency room to have them confirm that you are, in fact, NOT dying so that you can check those worries off the list and turn your focus to using the phrases shared in this episode as you move into healing. The 5 Phrases: 1. It doesn’t matter why. 2. Moving on. 3. This is none of my business. (What is inside my circle of control and what is not?) 4. Cool Story Bro. 5. We’re not doing that right now. - How the Dog Whisperer can help you interrupt anxious thought patterns. - How Radical Acceptance can help you begin to move into healing. “The chief task in life is simply this: to identify and separate matters so that I can say clearly to myself which are externals not under my control, and which have to do with the choices I actually control.” Epictetus, Discourses - Vocal vibration and humming are powerful stimulators that can soothe anxiety Ask Yourself: What is inside my circle of control? RADICAL ACCEPTANCE: “I guess I’m doing today with a racing heart.” “I guess I’m doing today with shortness of breath.” “I guess anxiety is riding along with me today…” When we say “that actually work” we’re saying these actually worked… for Laura. And they absolutely don’t work the first time. They work as you REALLY lean into them and utilize these strategies over time. Those of you who deal with anxiety know that when you try to use a coping mechanism, the anxiety brain will push back HARD. So take that into account as well. Thoughts like: "This isn't working." or "This is making the anxiety worse." are COMMON, and you can move past them and continue to heal.     Do Manners Really Matter?

It may send the message that whatever may come up on your phone is more important than the person you are spending time with. - Why it’s so important to speak truth in love.
