The matriarch of a prominent Princeton family is found stabbed to death in her locked basement in 1989. Why would anyone want to kill Cissy Stuart, one of the Ivy league town’s most well-known characters? The shocking investigation sprawls across decades, as police turn their attention from a serial attacker, to her son, to a group of Princeton University students who said they were at a Grateful Dead concert at the time of the killing. The hot-blooded investigator sees a conspiracy. Is he way off base? Or does privilege let you get away with murder? Great but….

Loved it until the end. Great story, obviously well researched and well told but disappointing at the end. All that evidence and not once do they address any motive for their prime suspects. People kill for a reason. What was the motive to kill Sissy???
I’ll never get these hours back

Good storytelling, but jeez Louise what a waste of breath and time. Could’ve been a compelling two-parter. A whole lotta “gotchas” followed by a whole lotta “nvm.” Annoying.

Agree with the reviewer saying what a waste of breath. What a waste of time! I heard this was good from somewhere but I’d say that only if you want to waste hours listening to the oh there’s a great new lead, which you find out after a whole episode doesn’t pan out. I kept listening because I couldn’t believe it would lead pretty much nowhere, but that’s what it did.
Disappointing

I think if I made a podcast it would turn out just like this. No one would talk to me on tape (or even on the record), I’d learn nothing more than what was in the public records, and I would sound like I had never read a script before.
Stop reading a script
Feb 25
I was interested in this story, but do not like the script reading. They are not good actors so it all sounds fake. It’s like a commercial with famous people who also can’t act and speak normally. Can’t they try to go scriptless and just give the facts amid back-and-forth banter? Even when you answer each others’ questions or reply to a statement, it’s scripted. It sounds very simple and dumb.

This might have been interesting if it was limited to 3-4 episodes.
Terrible Podcast
Jan 28
At the end, the only question is “why”? There’s no new information and no new discoveries. It’s all awful baseless innuendo against a family without any insight about the true perpetrator. The producers/“journalists” (along with the single minded detective who was purportedly investigating) had a conclusion without evidence when they started and, spoiler alert, came to the same conclusion at the end but, again without a scintilla of evidence! Probably the most reprehensible thing they did was to accost a man in his 50’s outside his home to suggest that he had something to do with the murder of his grandmother 35 years ago. And they’re shocked that he calmly refused to speak to them???are you kidding? They should be charged with stalking or perhaps libel/slander (both offenses since they wrote and spoke these untruths). Save yourself the time and listen to anything else - it’s got to be more worthy.
Not Much Substance

The entire podcast could be condensed into one or two episodes. Perplexing murder but not many facts to expound on.
Like a parody or f a true crime podcast

I wanted to like this. I listened to the whole thing. I felt it was actually a podcast about making a true crime podcast. The reporters were caricatures of true crime podcasts. Just harassing people about a tragic murder that happened a long time ago.
Speaking is not their forte
11/09/2024
I couldn't get through the first episode. If you're not good at speaking, that's totally cool. Not everyone is. But you can't make a podcast about an interesting topic when you're not a smooth speaker and feel you need to self-indulgently act shocked any time something bad has happened. It sounds so disingenuous. Recommend having an actor read the script. Would instantly improve.
