We do argue whether that’s actually necessary, certainly at that nutty number, but one thing is certain: Ueda made something AMAZING with One Cut off the Dead.     Sen Us Your Thoughts! Today’s VINTERVIEW is with filmmaker, branded content creator, and now documentarian Chris McGilvray. We chat with Chris about his narrative short filmmaking, how he quickly realized this was never going to lead to the kind of breakthrough previous generations enjoyed, pivoted to branded content and became a champion of pushing that type of work into more organic and authentic expressions, and then segued from that into his first feature length documentary about the Mount Eden Winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains, considered to have the longest lineage of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in all of North America. We thought this Vinterview would run 20-30 minutes. We had the whole thing Q&A’d scripted out and it was only 5 Q’s! PORTO was released posthumously, and since our own Dave Baxter recenty visited the city of Porto for the first time, and currently sells Portuguese wines in LA as his day job, this seemed like a perfect choice for us to tackle. This is a challenging film, equal parts mesmerizing and frustrating, a film that plays with time, rejects psychology, yet is confined to a magical evening between a French woman and an American man in Northern Portugal.
