They lose their bearings and end up wrecking their car when something is mysteriously thrown in their path. Molly feels it is sinister and deliberate. Sam feels she is just stressed out and thinks nothing of it. They get a ride from a dodgy old man to a motel a few miles away, which is a Halloween haunted house one month out of a year. It is in a bad state, and they are the only people there.
