PERSPECTIVE OF THE MIND

Diyana Dimitrova

This isn’t a podcast that tells you what to believe. It’s a space for honest conversations about mental health, personal growth, spirituality, human nature, and life itself. 🧠 We believe growth comes through reflection, experience, healing, and meaningful conversations. Sometimes growth isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about asking better questions. Every conversation leaves room for curiosity, reflection, and different perspectives. Our hope is that these conversations inspire you to grow, reflect, and feel a little less alone. Above all, this is a space to return to: safe and human.

Psychiatry, Ayahuasca, Spirituality & the Mystery of Consciousness with Simon Ruffell

What happens when modern psychiatry meets ancient Amazonian medicine? Can science explain experiences that people describe as spiritual? Can plant medicine play a role in healing? And what might be missing from Western psychiatry? These are some of the questions I explore with Dr. Simon Ruffell, a medical doctor and psychiatrist with a background in research psychology and a PhD focused on Amazonian ayahuasca. He has also studied traditional plant medicine and curanderismo in the Amazon rainforest. But before we begin, I want to make one thing very clear. This conversation is not intended to tell you whether or not plant medicine is right for you. I haven’t personally walked that path, so I’m approaching this conversation with curiosity, while also having genuine questions around safety, preparation, and integration — all areas that Simon emphasizes as being truly important to the process. So, as always, I encourage you to listen critically, stay curious, ask questions, and make your own informed choices. My intention is simply to offer a different perspective and perhaps raise some questions worth exploring. 00:00:00 Intro 00:01:03 What is Western psychiatry missing? 00:04:48 Antidepressants: are we treating the root cause? 00:07:02 Why are so many people struggling with mental health today? 00:12:08 Can mental health problems come from past lives? 00:15:04 Curanderismo: what can traditional healing teach us? 00:16:39 Simon’s personal experience with ayahuasca. 00:19:17 How do you let go of control with plant medicine? 00:23:45 Are we giving our power away to plant medicine? 00:25:46 Who is really doing the healing: the plant or us? 00:28:00 Can plant medicine be too much, too soon for some nervous systems? 00:31:33 Trauma integration vs. retraumatization. 00:34:48 How to prepare for plant medicine and integrate the experience. 00:41:49 Good and demonic forces: what exists in the spiritual world? 00:45:06 What is an entity attached to a person? 00:48:35 Can science explain the spiritual world? 00:52:01 Mental illness or spiritual ability? Where is the line? 00:55:21 Does Simon believe in God? 00:56:56 Do demonic energies come from God? 00:58:02 What has life taught Simon? 🙏✨ Producing each episode takes a lot of time, energy, and resources, and any support is deeply appreciated. "Take a pill. Make the pain go away. There is a price we pay for that." with Uria Tsur

#podcast: PERSPECTIVE OF THE MIND #episode: 11, season 1 🔔 I would really appreciate it, guys, if you subscribe to the Channel and give a like to the Episode. In return, I promise to keep bringing inspiring people and conversation to your attention. 🙏 Today I will introduce to you Uria Tsur - an Inspirational Artist, Leader of Vocal Freedom Workshops world wide and a Lead singer of Orot Band. 💫 This summer, during one of the toughest periods of my life, I met someone extraordinary: Uria Tsur. Looking back, it’s clear that my intuition guided me to a retreat I never would have considered before. I had never participated in such events, but something inside me told me to take the leap. That decision changed a lot. Uria created a safe space for me and others to be fully ourselves—vulnerable, honest, and free. In our conversation during the episode, we explored so many profound topics. Uria shared his wisdom on processing and releasing pain. He explained how he personally deals with negative emotions and judgment, offering insights that felt deeply practical yet profoundly spiritual. One of the biggest themes we delved into was trust—trusting life and trusting people. For those of us who have experienced betrayal, abuse, or trauma, feeling safe in the world can seem impossible. We also spoke about God, the Universe, and the intense polarity we see in the world today. Why does such duality exist? How can we navigate a world that feels so divided? A particularly moving moment was when Uria sang a song I love. He also explained the power of intuitive singing and how our voices can help us access the unconscious parts of ourselves—places where pain, healing, and transformation reside. This conversation was more than just a dialogue. It was a reminder of the beauty and depth of the human spirit. I hope it inspires you as much as it inspired me. Key moments from the Episode: 1:33 My personal story about facing difficult time and my intuition leading me to Uria's retreat 3:50 Why is there a part of ourselves that is a container of pain? 5:04 If we are on this Earth, then it is sure that we will experience pain. 7:27 What does Uria do to release and process the pain and negative emotions when he is going through tough time? 12:21 What does Uria provoke within people during the retreats, so that they can release the pain and be vulnerable and authentic? 15:42 Judgements. How to hold space for the others without judging them? 20:56 Judgements towards the others are parts of ourselves that we have not accepted fully. 24:56 Does God/Higher Intelligence exist? 25:58 If God/ Higher Intelligence exists, then why do we experience so much darkness on this planet? 30:26 Do we create our reality or is it already "written in the stars"? 36:50 How can we trust again life and people if we have been through a lot? 41:42 Urias response to the previous question almost half an year ago. 42:54 What is the connection between singing and spirituality/the deepest parts of ourselves? 46:54 What changes dose Uria typically see in people from the beginning to an end of a vocal retreat? 49:33 What kind of people/energies Uria accept in his personal life? 52:32 Uria singing a beautiful song for us 58:57 The game I play with each guest __________ Follow Uria: On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/uriatsur?igsh=MXg5NGZkdWlrdzRjZQ== Uria's website: www.uriatsur.com Follow me: On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shift_the_m...
