#103 "The Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17b)

“Take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17b) What does it actually mean to wield the Word of God as a weapon? How well do we need to know the Bible to use it in the middle of a spiritual battle? And what happens when the battle comes before we feel ready? In this episode, Kate walks closely through Ephesians 6:17b to uncover what it means to take the sword of the Spirit. Together, listeners will discover why this final piece of armor is different from all the others, what Jesus teaches us about answering the enemy with the Word of God, and why the most important thing we may have overlooked about this sword is whose sword it is. Most importantly, this episode will help you see that God has not handed you His Word and left you to figure out how to wield it alone. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, training us throughout our lives to know God's Word, recognize lies, answer them with truth, and obey what God has said. But dependence on the Spirit doesn't mean passivity. God commands us to take the sword—to refuse to negotiate with sin and lies, to intentionally train in His Word, and not merely to defend ourselves, but to advance His truth and gospel in the world. If you've ever felt intimidated by how much of the Bible you don't know, wondered whether you'll have the right verse when temptation or fear comes, or simply felt inadequate for the spiritual battle, this episode will remind you where your confidence belongs. You don't have to become a master swordsman before you're ready to fight. You have the Spirit of God to train you, the Word of God in your hands, and the strength of God in which to stand. So believe it. Study it. Abide in it. Obey it. Use it. And take the sword. #102 "The Helmet of Salvation" (Ephesians 6:17a)

“Take the helmet of salvation.” (Ephesians 6:17a) What exactly are we protecting our minds from? Why does Paul connect the helmet of the armor of God with salvation? And how can knowing that we are saved actually change the way we think, live, and respond when the enemy attacks? In this episode, Kate walks word-by-word through Ephesians 6:17a to uncover why salvation is the perfect protection for our minds. Together, listeners will discover that salvation isn't simply something that happened the day they trusted Jesus. Scripture reveals a threefold salvation: we have been saved from the penalty of sin, we are being saved from the power and pleasure of sin, and we will one day be saved from the presence of sin forever.  Most importantly, this episode will help you see how the assurance of your salvation can become a defense against the lies that so easily take up residence in your mind. Kate identifies three ways we can lose sight of what God has given us—living as grace ingrates, wealthy beggars, and eternity amnesiacs—and then replaces those lies with the truth of Scripture.  If you've ever felt condemned by your past, defeated by your sin, spiritually inadequate, consumed by what you're facing today, or afraid of what the future holds, this episode will remind you of what is true: you have been saved, you are being saved, and you will one day be saved. As you fill your mind with the truth of who God is and what He has done, you'll learn to recognize the enemy's lies, take your thoughts captive, and rest more deeply in the salvation Jesus has already secured for you. #101 "The Shield of Faith" (Ephesians 6:16)

“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6:16) What is faith? How do we grow in it? And what does it actually mean to take up the shield of faith in the middle of a very real spiritual battle? In this episode, Kate walks word-by-word through Ephesians 6:16 to uncover why Paul describes faith as a shield and how it extinguishes the flaming darts of the evil one. Together, listeners will discover why unbelief leaves us exposed, why faith is so much more than positive thinking or trying harder, and why knowing God through His Word is essential if we're going to trust Him in the battles we face. Most importantly, this episode is an invitation to see that the strength of our faith has never depended on us, but on the One we've placed our faith in. The God who calls us to take up the shield of faith is the same God who repeatedly calls Himself our shield throughout Scripture. If you've ever wrestled with fear, unbelief, or wondered how to trust God when life feels uncertain, this episode will encourage you to stop standing exposed and begin hiding yourself in the God who is faithful, trustworthy, and able to extinguish every flaming dart hurled your way. #100 "The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace" (Ephesians 6:15b)

"And, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace." (Ephesians 6:15b) In this episode, Kate continues The Armor series in Ephesians 6 to discover why the "shoes of the readiness of the gospel of peace" are far more than a beautiful metaphor—but the very foundation that enables believers to stand firm. In this milestone 100th episode of The Abidible Podcast (which is now...YES! also on VIDEO!), Kate explores what it truly means to be grounded in the gospel. Together you'll trace the story of Scripture to see how sin separated us from God, why we were once His enemies, and how Jesus Christ reconciled us to the Father through His death and resurrection. As you gain a deeper understanding of the gospel, you'll also gain a deeper appreciation for the peace Christ purchased for you. This episode will help you stand in greater confidence, worship Jesus with fresh gratitude, and remember that lasting peace isn't found in your circumstances—it's found in the finished work of Christ. Whether you've followed The Armor series from the beginning or you're joining for the first time, this conversation will help you see the gospel with fresh eyes and equip you to stand firm in your faith. #098 "The Breastplate of Righteousness" (Ephesians 6:14b)

"...and having put on the breastplate of righteousness." (Eph. 6:14b) What does it actually mean to be righteous—and who gets to decide? In this episode, host Kate tackles one of the most uncomfortable and important questions we can ask: if our world rejects absolute truth and every religion defines goodness differently, how can anyone know what “right living” even is? Together, we explore how our definition of righteousness always flows from our definition of God—and why competing worldviews lead to radically different standards for what is good, just, and true. We’ll look honestly at cultural morality, self-defined righteousness, world religions, and the Bible’s claim that God alone has the authority to define righteousness because He alone is perfectly righteous. But this episode doesn’t stop at diagnosis—it ends in hope. You’ll discover why Scripture says our own righteousness can never save us, what the breastplate of righteousness actually protects us from, and the breathtaking truth that in Christ, God offers us the righteousness we could never earn. If you’ve ever wondered: How do I know what’s truly right? Is being a good person enough? Why does truth matter? What if my definition of goodness is wrong? How can I stand before a holy God? This episode will challenge your assumptions, deepen your understanding of Ephesians 6, and invite you to consider the only righteousness that can truly save. #097 "The Belt of Truth" (Ephesians 6:14a)

"Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth..." (Ephesians 6:14a) In this episode of The Abidible Podcast, host Kate takes you deep into Ephesians 6:14a to uncover why the “belt of truth” is far more essential than most Christians realize. If you’ve ever felt spiritually exhausted, easily discouraged, vulnerable to lies, stuck in compromise, or unsure how to actually stand firm in your faith, this episode will help you understand why. Using the powerful picture of physical core weakness and recovery, Kate reveals how the belt of truth functions as the spiritual core support for every believer. Together, you’ll explore the Old Testament roots of the armor of God, what it really means to “gird up your loins,” and why truth is the very first piece of armor Paul tells us to put on. More importantly, you’ll walk away with practical, biblical ways to strengthen your spiritual core by saturating your life in God’s Word. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why the belt of truth is foundational to all the other armor, The difference between the belt of truth and the sword of the Spirit, How Satan primarily attacks through deception and half-truths, Why “wrapping yourself in truth” changes how you live, think, and fight, How abiding in Scripture strengthens your discernment, endurance, and stability, and Practical ways to fasten on the belt of truth every day. If you want to become harder to deceive, stronger in spiritual battle, more grounded in truth, and more equipped to stand firm in Christ, this episode is for you. #096 "How to Stand When the Evil Day Comes" (Ephesians 6:13)

"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." (Ephesians 6:13) In Episode #096 of The Abidible Podcast, host Kate walks word-by-word through Ephesians 6:13 to reveal what it truly means to “stand firm in the evil day.”  This is not a shallow conversation about “spiritual warfare,” but a deeply biblical look at the unseen battle raging behind the scenes of human history—from the serpent in Eden, to the giants in the land, to David standing before Goliath, to Christ triumphing over Satan at the cross.  With rich biblical theology, powerful gospel connections, and practical application for believers today, listeners will gain a clearer understanding of the armor of God, the reality of demonic opposition, the sovereignty of God over evil, and the courage Christians can have because Jesus has already won the ultimate victory.  This episode helps believers see that their battles are never merely physical or circumstantial—and that standing firm begins by standing in Christ Himself.
