    #106 "What Does the Bible Say About Sin?" (Romans 3:23, 10)

    "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." "As it is written, 'None is righteous, no, not one.'"  (Romans 3:23, 10, ESV) What does it really mean that all have sinned? Why is understanding our sin necessary to understanding the good news of the gospel? And how do we talk about sin with someone who believes they’re already a pretty good person? In Episode 106, Kate begins walking the Romans Road with Romans 3:23 and Romans 3:10: “None is righteous, no, not one.” She looks closely at what these verses teach us about sin, what it means to fall short of the glory of God, and why Scripture levels the playing field for every one of us—we all need a Savior. But this episode is also an honest conversation about the fear that can keep us from sharing the gospel. What if we say the wrong thing? What if we don’t know the answer? What if we feel completely unequipped? Kate shares what God has been doing in her own heart as she wrestles with those fears and learns to trust that our responsibility is to faithfully plant and water while God alone gives the growth. Together, we’ll look at what the Bible says about sin, some of the objections we may hear from the world, and how we can begin having genuine, loving conversations that point people back to the living Word of God. Because we don’t have to be experts. We don’t have to have every answer. And we certainly don’t have to save anyone. We can know the Word, hide it in our hearts, love the person in front of us, and trust the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do. In this introduction to The Romans Road, Kate takes us into the world of Paul and the church in Rome to discover why the gospel—not our eloquence—is the power of God for salvation.     #104 "Praying in the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:18-20)

    "...praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,  and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak." (Ephesians 6:18-20) What does it actually mean to pray in the Spirit? Why is prayer so hard for us? And what if prayer isn't what makes the armor of God work—but what keeps us dependent on the God whose armor we're wearing? In this final episode of The Armor, Kate walks closely through Ephesians 6:18–20 to discover when, how, how long, and for whom Paul tells us to pray. Together, listeners will see how the Spirit helps us in our weakness, why perseverance in prayer matters, and what Paul's surprising prayer request from prison teaches us about asking not only for relief from the battle, but for faithfulness to God within it. Most importantly, this episode brings the entire Armor series back to where it began: “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” The goal was never to become strong enough to fight without Jesus. Fully armored still means fully dependent. And even the battles intended to drive us away from God can, in His sovereign hands, become places where we learn to know, trust, depend upon, and love our King more deeply.     #103 "The Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17b)

    “Take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17b) What does it actually mean to wield the Word of God as a weapon? How well do we need to know the Bible to use it in the middle of a spiritual battle? And what happens when the battle comes before we feel ready? In this episode, Kate walks closely through Ephesians 6:17b to uncover what it means to take the sword of the Spirit. Together, listeners will discover why this final piece of armor is different from all the others, what Jesus teaches us about answering the enemy with the Word of God, and why the most important thing we may have overlooked about this sword is whose sword it is. Most importantly, this episode will help you see that God has not handed you His Word and left you to figure out how to wield it alone. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, training us throughout our lives to know God's Word, recognize lies, answer them with truth, and obey what God has said. But dependence on the Spirit doesn't mean passivity. God commands us to take the sword—to refuse to negotiate with sin and lies, to intentionally train in His Word, and not merely to defend ourselves, but to advance His truth and gospel in the world. If you've ever felt intimidated by how much of the Bible you don't know, wondered whether you'll have the right verse when temptation or fear comes, or simply felt inadequate for the spiritual battle, this episode will remind you where your confidence belongs. You don't have to become a master swordsman before you're ready to fight. You have the Spirit of God to train you, the Word of God in your hands, and the strength of God in which to stand. So believe it. Study it. Abide in it. Obey it. Use it. And take the sword.     #102 "The Helmet of Salvation" (Ephesians 6:17a)

    “Take the helmet of salvation.” (Ephesians 6:17a) What exactly are we protecting our minds from? Why does Paul connect the helmet of the armor of God with salvation? And how can knowing that we are saved actually change the way we think, live, and respond when the enemy attacks? In this episode, Kate walks word-by-word through Ephesians 6:17a to uncover why salvation is the perfect protection for our minds. Together, listeners will discover that salvation isn't simply something that happened the day they trusted Jesus. Scripture reveals a threefold salvation: we have been saved from the penalty of sin, we are being saved from the power and pleasure of sin, and we will one day be saved from the presence of sin forever.  Most importantly, this episode will help you see how the assurance of your salvation can become a defense against the lies that so easily take up residence in your mind. Kate identifies three ways we can lose sight of what God has given us—living as grace ingrates, wealthy beggars, and eternity amnesiacs—and then replaces those lies with the truth of Scripture.  If you've ever felt condemned by your past, defeated by your sin, spiritually inadequate, consumed by what you're facing today, or afraid of what the future holds, this episode will remind you of what is true: you have been saved, you are being saved, and you will one day be saved.
